How to download an AltHistory story
- Open the story thread on AltHistory. Its link should look like
https://althistory.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/. - Copy the thread URL from your browser.
- Paste it into the form at the top of this page.
- Choose EPUB or PDF, then choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished book to your device.
You can also paste the link on the WP Downloader home page. The tool will recognize it as an AltHistory link.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story from AltHistory. It does not download individual chapters or lists.
What you get
AltHistory stories are published as forum threads. WP Downloader uses the threadmarks to find the chapters and put them together in one book.
EPUB is free for everyone and works with phones, tablets, e-readers, and apps that support the format.
PDF requires a free Discord sign-in and gives you a fixed-layout copy of the story.
You can choose to include the story’s images. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
If the author adds more threadmarked chapters, download the story again to get them. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you already downloaded.

Do you need to sign in?
You do not need an AltHistory account. Paste the story’s public thread link and choose a format.
The free Discord sign-in for PDF is separate from AltHistory. EPUB downloads do not require it.
WP Downloader only downloads content it can access. It does not bypass paywalls, locked content, or age restrictions.
AltHistory support, along with support for the other fiction archives on the supported sites list, was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Does WP Downloader save every post in the thread?
No. It collects the threadmarked chapters rather than every forum post.
Can I download one chapter by itself?
No. WP Downloader downloads whole AltHistory stories. It does not support single-chapter downloads or lists for this site.
Why are newer chapters missing from my old EPUB?
WP Downloader does not update EPUB files you have already downloaded. If the thread has new threadmarked chapters, paste its link into the AltHistory downloader and download a new copy. You can also visit Help for more guidance.
