How to read AltHistory stories offline

WP Downloader lets you save an AltHistory story as an EPUB or PDF for offline reading on a phone, tablet, e-reader, or computer. The tool is free, runs in your browser, and does not require an installation.

Download the AltHistory story

AltHistory stories are forum threads. WP Downloader collects the threadmarked chapters from a story thread and combines them into one book.

Copy the story’s AltHistory URL. It should look similar to this:

https://althistory.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/

Then:

1. Open the AltHistory downloader.
2. Paste the story link into the box.
3. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
4. Download the EPUB, or sign in with Discord to download a PDF.
5. Save the file somewhere you can find it later.

You do not need an AltHistory account. WP Downloader downloads the whole story, not individual chapters or lists.

Read the story offline on a phone or tablet

Find the EPUB or PDF in your device’s Files or Downloads area. Tap it and choose an ebook reader or PDF reader on your device.

If it opens in the wrong app, use the share or open-with option to select your preferred reading app. Open the book once before going offline to make sure it is available in the app.

Read the story offline on an e-reader

First download the EPUB on your phone, tablet, or computer. Then transfer it using a method supported by your e-reader.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files. Use the EPUB or PDF and a transfer method supported by your device.

Once the file is on your e-reader, open it from the device’s library. The story will remain available without the original forum thread.

Read the story offline on a computer

Save the EPUB or PDF in a folder you can find again. Open the EPUB in an app that supports the format, or use a PDF reader for the PDF version.

You can also move the saved file to another personal device later.

Get newly posted chapters

An AltHistory story may gain more threadmarked chapters after you download it. WP Downloader cannot add those chapters to an existing EPUB.

Return to the AltHistory downloader, paste the story link again, and download the whole story. You can replace the older file or keep both copies.
