Available formats
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, but PDF downloads require a free Discord sign-in. You can use the AO3 to PDF converter if you prefer that format.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. It cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When a new chapter appears, paste the story link again to download a new copy.
Support for AO3 was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0. The supported sites page lists the other compatible fiction archives.
Signing in to Archive of Our Own
Signing in to AO3 is optional. You can download public stories without connecting an AO3 account.
For stories limited to signed-in AO3 members, sign in with your AO3 account before downloading. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It can download only what your account can already read and cannot bypass account restrictions, age restrictions, or other access controls.
