How to read an Archive of Our Own story on a tolino
To read an Archive of Our Own story on a tolino eReader, download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy it to the Books folder on your tolino. EPUB downloads are free, and there is no software to install.
What you need
Have these ready:
- The link to the Archive of Our Own story
- A computer
- Your tolino eReader
- A USB-C cable

Step 1: Copy the Archive of Our Own story link
Open the story on archiveofourown.org, archiveofourown.com, or archiveofourown.net, then copy the address from your browser.

Step 2: Download the AO3 story as an EPUB
Open the AO3 downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site and prepares the story.
Select EPUB and choose whether to include the story’s images. When the file is ready, save it somewhere easy to find on your computer.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in, but EPUB is the format to use with a tolino eReader. WPD does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Step 3: Sign in if the story is members-only
You do not need an Archive of Our Own account for a public story. For a members-only story, sign in to your Archive of Our Own account through WP Downloader.
WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It can download only material your account is allowed to read and cannot bypass members-only access, age restrictions, or other locked content.

Step 4: Connect your tolino to the computer
Connect the tolino eReader to your computer with its USB-C cable, then wait for the computer to detect it.
The tolino vision 6, shine 4, and epos 3 use MTP for USB transfers, so they may appear as connected devices instead of conventional removable drives. Open the tolino device when it appears on your computer.
Step 5: Copy the EPUB into the Books folder
Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader. Open the Books folder on the tolino device and copy the EPUB into it.
Wait until the transfer has finished before unplugging the tolino. You can then disconnect the reader safely and open the story for offline reading.
Update a story with new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When the author updates the story, paste its Archive of Our Own link into the downloader again and download a new EPUB.
Copy the new file to the Books folder on your tolino using the same USB-C steps.
