How to read an Archive of Our Own story on PocketBook
To read an Archive of Our Own story on a PocketBook e-reader, download it as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader and transfer the file through Send-to-PocketBook or USB. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and WP Downloader is a web tool, so there is nothing to install.
Download the AO3 story
Find the story on archiveofourown.org, archiveofourown.com, or archiveofourown.net. Its URL should look like this:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/123456Copy the full story URL and open the AO3 downloader. Paste the link into the box. WP Downloader will detect that the story comes from Archive of Our Own and prepare it for download.
PocketBook supports both available formats:
- EPUB is free for everyone.
- PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
You can choose whether to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader downloads the complete story from AO3. It does not download individual chapters or lists. When the author publishes new chapters, download the story again to get a new EPUB or PDF. WPD cannot add chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded.

Send the story with Send-to-PocketBook
Send-to-PocketBook lets you email the downloaded file to your e-reader. Activate the service on your PocketBook before sending the story.
1. Set up Send-to-PocketBook
On your PocketBook, open Settings, then Accounts and synchronization, then Send-to-PocketBook.
Sign in and follow the activation steps. You will receive an activation email and a personal Send-to-PocketBook address ending in @pbsync.com.
2. Email the EPUB or PDF
Create a message in your usual email app and address it to your personal @pbsync.com address. Attach the EPUB or PDF from WP Downloader and send it.
If the file does not arrive, check whether your sending email address is on the approved list. Send-to-PocketBook may ask you to whitelist the address before accepting files from it.
3. Sync your PocketBook
Sync the PocketBook. The story should then appear on the reader.
Transfer the story over USB
You can copy the file directly from a computer:
- Download the AO3 story as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader.
- Connect the PocketBook e-reader to the computer with USB.
- Copy the downloaded file to the PocketBook.
- Disconnect the reader when the transfer finishes.
- Open the story on the device.
Download members-only AO3 stories
You do not need to sign in for public AO3 stories. For members-only stories, sign in with your AO3 account through WP Downloader. The tool can then download stories that your account is allowed to read.
WP Downloader uses your account credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.
