How to Read AO3 Stories in the Kindle App
To read an Archive of Our Own story in the Kindle app, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and send the file to your Kindle library. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.
Step 1: Copy the AO3 story link
Open the story on archiveofourown.org, archiveofourown.com, or archiveofourown.net, then copy the URL from your browser’s address bar.
An AO3 story link looks like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the AO3 downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader recognizes the site and prepares the story for download.
Select EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and works with Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. You can also choose to include the story’s images.
You can sign in with your AO3 account if the story is available only to members. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested and can access only content that your account is allowed to read. It does not bypass account requirements, age restrictions, or other access controls.

Step 3: Send the EPUB to your Kindle library
Once the EPUB is on your phone or tablet, send it to Amazon in any of these ways:
- Upload it through Send to Kindle on the web.
- Use the Send to Kindle app.
- Email it to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address.
Files sent by email must come from an approved sender address. Amazon converts the EPUB and adds the book to your Kindle library.
Send to Kindle also accepts PDF files, though EPUB is enough for this process. WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files, and Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI.

Step 4: Open the story in the Kindle app
After Amazon converts the EPUB and adds it to your library, open the Kindle app on your phone or tablet. Find the story in your library and open it.
The uploaded book can also appear in your library on a Kindle e-reader, so you can read it there as well as in the app.
Downloading new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. When the AO3 story is updated, paste its link into the downloader again and download the complete work. Send the new EPUB to your Kindle library in the same way.

Can I read an AO3 story in the Kindle app on a phone?

Does WP Downloader create Kindle MOBI files?
No. WP Downloader creates EPUB files for everyone and PDF files with a free Discord sign-in. It does not output MOBI, AZW3, or TXT. Amazon accepts EPUB through Send to Kindle but no longer accepts MOBI.
Can I download one AO3 chapter?
No. WP Downloader downloads the whole AO3 story rather than individual chapters or lists.
