How to download a StoryRoom story
- Sign in to your StoryRoom or FineStories account. The site requires an account before you can download its stories.
- Copy the story URL. It should look similar to
https://storyroom.com/s/1234/story-title. - Paste the URL into the download box at the top of this page.
- Choose EPUB or PDF, then choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Start the download and save the file to your device.
WP Downloader downloads the complete story. Individual chapters and StoryRoom lists are not supported. To get chapters published after your download, paste the story link again and download a new copy.
Available formats
EPUB is free for everyone. This flexible ebook format works with many reading apps and devices. You can find more information in the StoryRoom to EPUB guide.
PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. Its fixed page layout can be useful if you prefer to read or print in that format. See the StoryRoom to PDF guide for instructions.
You can include the story’s images in either format. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
WP Downloader’s StoryRoom and FineStories support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0. The supported sites page lists all compatible fiction archives.
Signing in to StoryRoom
You need an account on StoryRoom or FineStories. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
The downloader can access only content that your account is already allowed to read. It cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions. If your account cannot open a story on the original site, WP Downloader cannot unlock it.
The story-site account and Discord sign-in have separate purposes. You must sign in to StoryRoom or FineStories to access the story. You need Discord only when downloading a PDF, not an EPUB.
FAQ
Does this work with FineStories links?
Yes. The downloader supports links from both storyroom.com and finestories.com. Paste the complete story link into the box above.
Can I download one chapter?
No. WP Downloader downloads complete stories from StoryRoom and FineStories. It does not support single chapters or lists from these sites.
Can WP Downloader update an EPUB I already have?
No. Download the complete story again when you want newly published chapters, then replace the older copy if you wish.
Why do I need to sign in?
StoryRoom and FineStories require an account for downloads. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to retrieve the story you requested and cannot access anything your account is not allowed to read. For troubleshooting, visit the help guides.
