Track StoryRoom Reading with Apple Books Reading Goals
You can read a downloaded StoryRoom story in Apple Books. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not say whether an EPUB you imported yourself adds to your daily reading time, so you will need to test the file in Apple Books.
Download a StoryRoom story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool that does not require an app or extension. It supports English-language stories from StoryRoom at storyroom.com and Fine Stories at finestories.com.
A StoryRoom link usually looks like this:
https://storyroom.com/s/1234/story-title To download a story:
- Open the StoryRoom downloader.
- Paste the story URL into the box.
- Sign in with your account for that site when prompted.
- Choose EPUB or PDF.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished book.
EPUB is free for everyone. Creating a PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not support individual StoryRoom chapters or story lists. The tool can only fetch content that your account can already read. It cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions, and it uses your account credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
If the author adds more chapters, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you previously created.

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Once imported, the story appears in your Library.
On an iPhone or iPad
After downloading the file:
- Open the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Find the EPUB or PDF.
- Open the Share menu.
- Choose Books.
Apple Books will add the file to your Library, where you can open and read it.
On a Mac
Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose Add to Library from the File menu.
The imported StoryRoom story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Reading Goals track:
- How many minutes you read each day
- How many books and audiobooks you finish each year
The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.
Adding a StoryRoom story to your Library does not show whether Apple Books will record your reading time. You need to open the file and read it in the app.
Check whether a StoryRoom EPUB counts
Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. To check your imported StoryRoom EPUB:
- Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
- Open the imported EPUB.
- Read for a minute or two.
- Return to Reading Goals.
- Check whether today’s reading time increased.
If the time has not increased, do not assume that the EPUB counted toward your goal.
Make a StoryRoom PDF count
PDFs count toward your reading goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current versions of iOS, open Settings, then Apps, then Books, and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books, and enable the same option.
Once the setting is on, open the StoryRoom PDF in Apple Books and read it there. You can confirm that it is working by noting your reading time, reading for a minute or two, and checking whether the total increased.
