How to Back Up StoryRoom Stories for Personal Reading

You can keep a personal copy of a StoryRoom story by downloading it with WP Downloader and saving the EPUB or PDF somewhere you can find it later. A downloaded EPUB preserves the story as it was at the time. If the author later edits, unpublishes, or deletes the story, that saved version stays the same.

Download a StoryRoom story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool that works with English stories from StoryRoom and FineStories. You do not need to install anything.

1. Open the StoryRoom downloader.
2. Copy the story URL from your browser. It should look like this:

Save each version as a snapshot

Authors and websites can revise, unpublish, or delete stories. An EPUB you save today preserves the version available when you downloaded it.

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. Download the story again when the author publishes more chapters or makes changes you want to keep. You can keep the earlier version or replace it with the newer one.

3. Give your StoryRoom folder a clear name.
4. Keep a second copy in another location.

Save the EPUB on your phone or tablet

EPUB is a flexible choice for reading apps and future conversions. Save the file in a folder you can find again instead of relying on your browser’s recent downloads.

Open or import the EPUB in an app that supports the format. Depending on your device and app, the command may be called Open, Share, or Import. Check that the book opens before deleting any extra copy from your downloads folder.

Keep the original EPUB outside the reading app too. If you change apps or devices, you can import the saved file again without returning to StoryRoom.

Organize your StoryRoom books with calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can help you organize a larger collection of downloaded stories.

To add a book:

1. Open calibre on your computer.
2. Select Add books.
3. Choose the StoryRoom EPUB you downloaded.
4. Check the title, author, cover, and other metadata.
5. Open the file in calibre’s e-book viewer to confirm that it works.

With calibre, you can edit metadata and covers, send books to a connected e-reader over USB, and convert files to other formats. For example, you can convert an EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF if your device needs one of those formats.

Copy the book to an e-reader

Keep the original EPUB after converting it for a particular device. You can read that EPUB in calibre, import it into another app, or convert it again later.
