How to Read Lumos Stories in the Kindle App

To read a Lumos story in the Kindle app, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and send the file to your Kindle library. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.

What you will need

Have these ready:

  • The Lumos story link
  • WP Downloader open in your phone or tablet’s browser
  • The Kindle app
  • Access to Amazon’s Send to Kindle service

A Lumos story link looks like this:

http://lumos.sycophanthex.com/viewstory.php?sid=1234

WP Downloader downloads the whole story from Lumos. Single chapters and story lists are not supported.

Step 1: Download the Lumos story

Open the Lumos downloader in your browser. You can use it on the same phone or tablet where you have the Kindle app.

Copy the story URL from your browser’s address bar and paste it into WP Downloader. The tool recognizes the site and prepares the story. Lumos does not require you to sign in.

Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and Amazon accepts the files through Send to Kindle. You can also choose to include the story’s images.

Download the completed EPUB to your device. For more help with this step, see how to download Lumos stories.

WP Downloader can also make a PDF, but this requires a free Discord sign-in. Send to Kindle accepts both EPUB and PDF. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to your Kindle library

Amazon converts EPUB files submitted through Send to Kindle and adds them to your Kindle library. You can submit the file in any of these ways:

  • Upload it on the Send to Kindle website
  • Use the Send to Kindle app
  • Email it to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address

When using the website or app, select the EPUB you downloaded and submit it to your library.

To send the file by email, use an approved sender email address. Attach the EPUB and email it to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address. Amazon no longer accepts MOBI files through Send to Kindle.

See the Send to Kindle guide for details about each method, or follow the guide to send a Lumos story to Kindle.

Step 3: Read the story in the Kindle app

The story will appear in your Kindle library after Amazon processes the EPUB. Open the Kindle app on your phone or tablet, find the new book, and select it to begin reading.

Amazon adds the converted story to the same Kindle library used by Kindle e-readers, so you do not need to send a separate copy to each device.

Downloading new chapters later

WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded. When a Lumos story gets new chapters, return to the Lumos downloader, paste the link again, and download a new copy.

Send the new EPUB to your Kindle library using the same process. It will contain the current complete story, not only the chapters added since your previous download.

Other ways to read a Lumos story

You can also read the EPUB with a Kobo device or app. See the guide to reading Lumos stories on Kobo.

Lumos is one of the fiction archives supported by WP Downloader. Support for these archives was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
