How to Read Lumos Stories on a Kobo E-Reader
To read a Lumos story on a Kobo e-reader, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and transfer the file to your Kobo. Kobo opens EPUB files without conversion or another reading app.
Download the Lumos story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free browser-based tool, so there is nothing to install. You do not need a Lumos account.
Open the story on lumos.sycophanthex.com and copy its address. A Lumos story link looks like this:
http://lumos.sycophanthex.com/viewstory.php?sid=1234 Then:
- Open the Lumos downloader.
- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished EPUB.
WP Downloader downloads the whole Lumos story. It does not support individual chapters or story lists from this site. If the story receives new chapters, download it again because WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF with a free Discord sign-in, but EPUB works natively on Kobo e-readers.
See how to download Lumos stories for more details.
Put the EPUB on your Kobo with USB
You can transfer the EPUB to any Kobo e-reader with a computer and USB cable.
- Connect the Kobo to your computer with the USB cable.
- Wait for it to appear as a drive on the computer.
- Open the Kobo drive.
- Copy the Lumos EPUB onto it.
- Eject the Kobo from the computer.
- Disconnect the USB cable.
The story will appear in the Kobo library. You can open it like any other EPUB and read it offline.
Add the story through Dropbox or Google Drive
The following Kobo models can receive non-protected EPUB and PDF files through Dropbox or Google Drive:
- Kobo Forma
- Kobo Sage
- Kobo Elipsa
- Kobo Elipsa 2E
- Kobo Libra Colour
Dropbox requires Kobo software 4.18 or later. Google Drive requires software 4.37 or later.
Using Dropbox
Link your Dropbox account from the Kobo e-reader. Put the EPUB in the linked cloud folder, then sync the Kobo. The story will appear on that device.
Using Google Drive
From the Kobo home screen, open More, select My Google Drive, and choose Get Started. The e-reader will show a code. Enter it on the Kobo website to connect your Google Drive account.
Put the Lumos EPUB in the connected cloud folder and sync the e-reader. The story will appear in the library on that Kobo.
Books transferred through Dropbox or Google Drive appear only on the device where you added them. To read the book on another Kobo, add the file to that device separately.
Read the Lumos story offline
Once the EPUB is in your Kobo library, you can open it without an internet connection or the Lumos page.
Keep the original EPUB if you may want to transfer it again. When new chapters are published, download a fresh copy with WP Downloader and add the new EPUB to your Kobo.
