FicHub vs WP Downloader at a glance

Sites supported by WP Downloader

Coverage across 91 sites

WP Downloader supports 91 sites. Four have dedicated download pages: Wattpad, Inkitt, Royal Road, and stck.me. The other 87 include fanfiction archives, forums, and web-novel sites.

Support for those 87 archives was ported from FanFicFare, an open-source fanfiction downloader released under the Apache-2.0 license. The complete list is available on the supported-sites page.

FicHub’s homepage lists the XenForo forums SpaceBattles, Sufficient Velocity, and Questionable Questing. It also lists FanFiction.net, FictionPress, AO3, HPFFA, SIYE, AFF, and Worm/Ward.

The number of supported sites matters less than whether a tool works with the sites you use. FicHub supports some major fanfiction archives that WP Downloader does not, including FanFiction.net. WP Downloader supports more sites in total and has dedicated support for several web-fiction platforms.

Wattpad links and account access

FicHub’s homepage does not list Wattpad. WP Downloader accepts complete Wattpad stories, individual parts, and reading lists.

You do not need an account to download public Wattpad stories. After signing in with your Wattpad account, you can also download paid stories that your account owns and stories from your library or archive.

WP Downloader retrieves only material that your account can already read. It does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

Sign-in on other supported platforms

Some supported sites require an account or make additional stories available after sign-in.

Inkitt requires you to sign in with your Inkitt account. stck.me also requires an account. Paid or follower-only chapters remain locked if your account cannot read them, and the book includes a notice in place of those chapters.

Among the other 87 archives, some offer optional sign-in for members-only stories, while a few require an account. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.

Wattpad audiobook link

When you paste a single Wattpad story link, WP Downloader shows a “Listen to audiobook” button. The button opens Audora, a sister service that turns the story into an audiobook.

This button is available only for single Wattpad stories, not stories from other sites.

Formats and features available from FicHub

Bookmarklet

FicHub offers a bookmarklet for starting an export while browsing a supported story. WP Downloader does not have a bookmarklet. To use WP Downloader, copy the story link and paste it into the box on the home page.

Source code and support

FicHub is open source, and its code is available on GitHub. Support is available through Discord and IRC.

WP Downloader’s support for 87 archive sites uses code ported from the open-source FanFicFare project. The WP Downloader and FanFicFare comparison explains how those tools differ.

Other practical differences

FicHub caches and throttles requests, so it warns that exported content may be stale.

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When a story has been updated, paste its link and download the whole story again.

For the 87 archive sites, WP Downloader downloads complete stories only. Downloads of individual parts and reading lists are limited to Wattpad.

Both tools support some forum fiction. The SpaceBattles download guide explains how to download a story with WP Downloader.
