What is WP Downloader?
WP Downloader is a free browser-based tool. Paste a story link into the box on the home page, and it detects the source site. EPUB downloads are available to everyone. PDF downloads require a free Discord sign-in. You can choose whether to include the story’s images.
WPD natively supports four platforms:
- Wattpad, including public stories, single parts, and reading lists
- Inkitt
- Royal Road
- stck.me
Public Wattpad stories and Royal Road stories do not require an account. Inkitt requires you to sign in. Signing in with Wattpad lets WPD download paid stories your account owns and stories from your library or archive. stck.me also requires sign-in. Paid or follower-only chapters that your account cannot read remain locked and appear in the book with a notice.

What is FanFicFare?
FanFicFare is an open-source fanfiction downloader released under the Apache-2.0 license. It is available as a Calibre plugin and a command-line tool. The plugin requires Calibre, while the command-line version requires Python.
It downloads stories from more than 100 fanfiction sites and creates EPUB, HTML, TXT, and MOBI files. It supports FanFiction.net, which WP Downloader does not.
FanFicFare can update an existing EPUB when a story gains new chapters. WP Downloader cannot update an existing file, so you must download the story again to get new chapters.
Where WP Downloader is stronger
WP Downloader requires no setup. You do not need to install Calibre, Python, a plugin, or a command-line tool. You can open the site, paste a link, and download the book.
Its native support covers Wattpad, Inkitt, Royal Road, and stck.me. For Wattpad, WPD can download single parts and reading lists as well as whole public stories. Signing in with Wattpad also gives it access to your library, archive, and paid stories you own.
When you paste a single Wattpad story link, WPD shows a “Listen to audiobook” button. The button opens Audora, a sister service that turns the story into an audiobook. It is available only for single Wattpad stories, not for other sites.
Where FanFicFare is stronger
FanFicFare supports more sites overall, with more than 100 fanfiction sites compared with WP Downloader’s 91 total sites. It also supports FanFiction.net, which WPD does not.
FanFicFare has more output formats. It creates MOBI, TXT, and HTML files in addition to EPUB. WPD creates EPUB and PDF files.
FanFicFare can add new chapters to an existing EPUB, which is useful for works in progress. WPD requires a fresh download whenever you want the latest chapters.
Its Calibre plugin and command-line tool may suit readers who already manage books in Calibre or use Python-based tools.

Account access and restrictions
