How to Read Ad Astra Stories Offline on a Flight

Download the Ad Astra story before you leave, open it on the device you plan to take, and test it in airplane mode. Once WP Downloader saves the whole story as an EPUB or PDF, you can read the file without Wi-Fi.

Download the Ad Astra story before your flight

This step needs an internet connection, so complete it somewhere with reliable service.

1. Open the Ad Astra downloader.
2. Copy the story URL from your browser. It should look like this:

3. Paste the link into WP Downloader.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF. EPUB is free for everyone, while PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the file to the device you will use during the flight.

For Ad Astra, WP Downloader downloads the whole story rather than a single chapter or list. If the story is members-only, sign in with your Ad Astra account. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested, and WP Downloader can access only material that your account is allowed to read. It cannot bypass access restrictions.

Choose a format and reading device

Make sure the file is saved locally or delivered to the app or device you will use. A file that is still in online storage or waiting to be transferred will not be available without a connection.

Phone or tablet

Import the EPUB into an ebook-reading app that is already installed on your device. If you downloaded a PDF, save it somewhere your PDF viewer can reach offline.

Open the book and check a few pages. Then turn on airplane mode, close the story, and open it again. Install any reading app and complete this test while you still have internet access.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Amazon’s Send to Kindle accepts EPUB and PDF files. You can send the file by email to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address, through the Send to Kindle app, or on the web.

Amazon converts the EPUB during delivery. The book then appears in your Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app. Because delivery requires an internet connection, send the story before your flight and wait for it to appear on the device you are taking.

When sending by email, use an approved sender address for your Kindle account. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files, and WP Downloader does not create MOBI or AZW3 files.

Kobo

Download the story as an EPUB, then follow the Ad Astra on Kobo guide to transfer it to your device. Finish the transfer before leaving and open the book once.

Put the Kobo in airplane mode and check the story again so you can fix any transfer problem before your flight.

Laptop

Save the EPUB or PDF locally on your laptop and open it with an installed reading app or PDF viewer. Do not rely on a browser tab or online storage.

Disconnect from Wi-Fi and open the saved file again. If you plan to read on the plane, remember that a laptop can be awkward when tray space is limited.

Before-takeoff checklist

Before leaving for the airport:

• Download the complete story with WP Downloader.
• Import or send it to your reading app or device.
• Wait for any Kindle delivery to finish.
• Open the book and check several pages.
• Turn on airplane mode.
• Close and reopen the story.
• Download the story again if new chapters have appeared since your last copy.
