How to Add JoyRead Stories to Calibre
To add a JoyRead story to calibre, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file into your calibre library. You can then edit its details, convert it to another format, read it on your computer, or transfer it to an e-reader. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so the download step does not require any installation.
Download the JoyRead story as an EPUB
Copy the address of the story from joyread.com. A JoyRead story link looks like this:

You can include the story’s images in the EPUB by turning on that option before downloading.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story from JoyRead. It does not download individual chapters or lists. Public stories do not require an account. You can sign in with your JoyRead account to reach members-only stories that the account can read. Paid and locked chapters are included only when your account already has access to them.
WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the requested story. It cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, age restrictions, or other access limits.

Add the EPUB to your calibre library
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. After the EPUB finishes downloading, open calibre and select “Add books.”
Find the EPUB on your computer and select it. calibre will import the story into your library. You can open it in calibre’s e-book viewer or organize it with your other downloaded books.
Organize the story’s metadata and cover
Select the imported story and open calibre’s metadata editor. You can edit its metadata and cover to make the book easier to find in a large library.
Review the displayed title and other details, then change any fields you want to organize differently. You can also replace the cover. These changes apply only to the copy in calibre. They do not affect the original JoyRead story.
If you save many stories, using the same naming and metadata choices for each EPUB can make the library easier to browse.
Read or listen in calibre
Select the story and open it in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it on your computer. The viewer also has a “Read aloud” feature that can read the downloaded story to you.
The book contains the chapters that WP Downloader could access when you created the EPUB.
Convert the story to another format
WP Downloader creates EPUB files for everyone. It can also create PDF files after a free Discord sign-in. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
calibre can convert an imported EPUB to another format, including AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. Select the story in your library, open calibre’s conversion tool, and choose the format you need.
You can keep the original EPUB in your library for reading or future conversions.
Move the story to an e-reader
calibre can send books to an e-reader connected to your computer over USB. Connect the device and wait for calibre to recognize it. Select the JoyRead story, then use the option to send it to the device.

Manage newly added chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When a JoyRead story is updated, download the whole story again and add the new file to calibre.
Before importing the new copy, decide how you want to distinguish it from the previous download. Consistent metadata can help you identify which version to read or transfer.
