How to track FicWad stories on Goodreads or The StoryGraph

Many fanfiction stories are missing from Goodreads and The StoryGraph. After downloading a FicWad story with WP Downloader, you can look for an existing record, add one to Goodreads if your account is eligible, or keep your own reading library in calibre.

Download the FicWad story

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything. Open the FicWad downloader and paste the story link into the box. A FicWad story URL looks like this:

WP Downloader detects the site and downloads the complete story. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.

Signing in with your FicWad account is optional. It lets WP Downloader reach members-only stories that your account can already read. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested. WP Downloader cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.

Save the details you will need

Keep these details with the downloaded file:

• The story title
• The author’s name
• The original FicWad story URL
• The downloaded EPUB or PDF

You need the title and author to search for the story or create a Goodreads entry. The original URL can help you tell apart stories with similar names.

A reading-tracker entry is separate from the downloaded file. The entry records what you read. The EPUB or PDF is the copy you can open in a compatible reading app.

Track the story on Goodreads

Search Goodreads for the story title and author first. Most fanfiction and web serials are not in its database, so the story may be missing.

Eligible Goodreads members can add a missing book at goodreads.com/book/new. The account must have a verified email and cannot be brand new.

The minimum details are:

• The FicWad story title
• The author’s name

Copy those details from the FicWad page. Search carefully before adding anything because Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate records.

Once you find or create the correct record, you can use it to track the FicWad story on Goodreads.

Check The StoryGraph

Search The StoryGraph for the story’s title and author. Its database may not contain the story, particularly if it is fanfiction or an online serial.

The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. If the story is missing, check its current help pages for guidance instead of following unofficial steps.

If you cannot add the story, you can keep the EPUB in calibre as a personal record without relying on a public book database.

Keep a personal FicWad library in calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can hold stories that Goodreads or The StoryGraph does not list.

To add a FicWad story:

1. Download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader.
2. Open calibre and select Add books.
3. Choose the downloaded EPUB file.
4. Edit the metadata or cover if needed.
5. Keep the file in your calibre library as your reading record.

calibre can convert EPUB files to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader itself does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
