Track FictionAlley Stories on Goodreads or StoryGraph

To track a FictionAlley Archive story, download it with WP Downloader and look for a matching entry on Goodreads or The StoryGraph. Most fanfiction and web serials are missing from the Goodreads database, so you can also keep your own reading list in calibre.

Download the FictionAlley story

Saving the story as an EPUB gives you a copy to read offline and lets you check the title and author when creating a reading record.

  1. Open the FictionAlley downloader.

  2. Copy the FictionAlley Archive story URL from your browser. It should look similar to this:

    https://www.fictionalley-archive.org/authors/drt/DA.html
  3. Paste the URL into WP Downloader.

  4. Choose whether to include the story’s images.

  5. Download the story as an EPUB.

EPUB downloads are free for everyone. PDF is also available after a free Discord sign-in. WP Downloader is a web tool, so there is nothing to install, and you do not need a FictionAlley account.

WP Downloader downloads the entire story from FictionAlley. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from this archive. FictionAlley support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Add the story to Goodreads

Search Goodreads for the story’s title and author before adding a new entry. Most fanfiction and web serials are not in its database, but the story may already be listed under slightly different formatting.

If the story is missing, an eligible Goodreads account can add it manually at goodreads.com/book/new. The account must have a verified email and cannot be brand new. At minimum, you need the title and author.

Check those details against the FictionAlley story page or the downloaded EPUB. Once the entry exists, you can use it as the Goodreads record for the story. Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate entries, so do not create another entry if the work is already listed.

Look for the story on The StoryGraph

Search The StoryGraph using the story’s title and author. Its database may not include archived fanfiction or web serials.

The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. If the story is missing, check its current help pages for guidance. Do not assume that its process is the same as Goodreads.

You can use calibre as a personal reading list when no suitable public entry exists.

Keep a reading list in calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Each FictionAlley EPUB can have its own entry in your calibre library.

To add a story:

  1. Download the FictionAlley story as an EPUB with WP Downloader.
  2. Open calibre on your computer.
  3. Select “Add books” and choose the EPUB.
  4. Review or edit its title, author, metadata, and cover.
  5. Use the calibre library to keep track of your downloaded stories.

calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files directly.

You can read the story in calibre’s e-book viewer, which includes a Read aloud feature, or send it to a connected e-reader over USB. For help with a particular device, see how to send FictionAlley stories to Kindle or read FictionAlley stories on Kobo.

Download the story again when it changes

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. If a FictionAlley story changes, download the whole story again.

Before replacing the earlier file, compare the title and author to keep your reading record consistent. If you use calibre, review the new file’s metadata when you add it to your library.
