How to Read FictionAlley Stories on a Kobo
To read a FictionAlley Archive story on a Kobo, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and transfer the file to your e-reader. Kobo opens EPUB files directly, so no conversion or additional reading app is needed.
Download a FictionAlley story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free web tool that works with stories from fictionalley-archive.org and fictionalley.org. You do not need to install anything.
Find the story you want to save. Its URL should look like this:
https://www.fictionalley-archive.org/authors/drt/DA.html Then:
- Open the FictionAlley downloader.
- Paste the story URL into the box.
- Choose EPUB as the output format.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the EPUB to your phone or computer.
You do not need a FictionAlley account. WP Downloader saves the entire story, not a single chapter or a list of stories. EPUB downloads are free for everyone.
WP Downloader can also create a PDF after you sign in with a free Discord account. For a Kobo, EPUB is the simpler choice. The tool does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
FictionAlley Archive support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
Copy the EPUB to your Kobo with USB
A USB cable lets you copy the downloaded file from your computer to your Kobo.
- Connect the Kobo e-reader to your computer with a USB cable.
- Wait for it to appear as a drive on the computer.
- Open the drive.
- Copy the FictionAlley EPUB onto the Kobo.
- Eject the Kobo safely, then disconnect the cable.
- Open the Kobo library and select the story.
The story will appear in your library as a book. Once it is on the Kobo, you can read it without visiting the FictionAlley website.
Add the story through Dropbox
Dropbox can transfer non-protected EPUB and PDF files to these Kobo models running software version 4.18 or later:
- Kobo Forma
- Kobo Sage
- Kobo Elipsa
- Kobo Elipsa 2E
- Kobo Libra Colour
Link your Dropbox account from the e-reader, put the downloaded EPUB in the Kobo cloud folder, and sync the device. The story will appear only on the Kobo where you added it.
Add the story through Google Drive
Google Drive requires Kobo software version 4.37 or later and works on the same models:
- Kobo Forma
- Kobo Sage
- Kobo Elipsa
- Kobo Elipsa 2E
- Kobo Libra Colour
From the Kobo Home screen, open More, select My Google Drive, and choose Get Started. The e-reader will show a code. Enter it on the Kobo website to link your Google Drive account.
Put the EPUB in the appropriate cloud folder, then sync the Kobo. The story will appear in the library on that device. Books transferred through Google Drive appear only on the Kobo where you added them.
Get new chapters or story changes
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already stored on your Kobo. If the FictionAlley story changes or gains chapters, download the whole story again and transfer the new EPUB to the device.
