How to read a MediaMiner story on a Boox e-reader
To read a MediaMiner story on a Boox e-reader, download it as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader and transfer the file to your device. Boox e-readers run Android, so you can open either format in the built-in reader or another Android reading app.
Download the MediaMiner story
WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install. Find the MediaMiner story you want to read. Its address should look like this:
https://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/s/category-name/story-title/123456 Copy the full story URL and open the MediaMiner downloader. Paste the link into the box, and WP Downloader will detect the site.
You do not need to sign in to MediaMiner. WP Downloader downloads the whole story, not an individual chapter or a list of stories.
Choose a file format:
- EPUB is free for everyone.
- PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
You can choose whether to include the story’s images. When the file is ready, download it to your phone or computer.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. Boox devices can open EPUB and PDF files, so neither of those other formats is needed.
For more help with downloading the file, see How to download MediaMiner stories.
Put the story on your Boox
You can copy the downloaded file to your Boox over USB or open it from Google Drive.
Copy the file over USB
If the story is on your computer, connect your Boox e-reader to the computer with USB.
Find the EPUB or PDF and copy it to a folder on the Boox. Once the transfer is complete, disconnect the device, find the file on your e-reader, and open it in the built-in reader.
Open the file from Google Drive
You can also put the EPUB or PDF in Google Drive from your phone or computer.
Open Google Drive on your Boox and find the file. You can then open it with the built-in reader or another Android reading app installed on the device.
This method lets you transfer a story from your phone without connecting the e-reader to a computer.
Choose EPUB or PDF
Both formats work on Boox e-readers. EPUB is available without signing in, while creating a PDF with WP Downloader requires a free Discord sign-in.
If you are unsure which to choose, try EPUB first. You can return to the MediaMiner downloader later and create a PDF instead.
Use another Android reading app
Since Boox e-readers run Android, you can use another installed Android reading app instead of the built-in reader. The download and transfer steps are the same. Choose the app you want to use when you open the EPUB or PDF.
Get newly posted chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When a MediaMiner story is updated, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy of the whole story.
Transfer the new file to your Boox by USB or open it from Google Drive.
For other e-readers, see the guides to sending MediaMiner stories to Kindle and reading MediaMiner stories on Kobo.
