How to Read Kakuyomu Stories on a reMarkable
To read a Kakuyomu story on a reMarkable tablet, download the whole story as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader and transfer the file to your tablet. WP Downloader is a free browser-based tool, so you do not need to install anything.
Download the Kakuyomu story
Open the Kakuyomu Downloader, copy the link to the story from kakuyomu.jp, and paste it into the download box.
A Kakuyomu story link usually looks like this:
https://kakuyomu.jp/works/12341234123412341234WP Downloader recognizes Kakuyomu from the link and downloads the whole story. You do not need to sign in to Kakuyomu.
Kakuyomu stories are in Japanese. WP Downloader downloads the original story without translating it.
Choose a file format:
- EPUB is free for everyone and works on reMarkable tablets.
- PDF also works on reMarkable, but WP Downloader requires a free Discord sign-in to create one.
You can choose whether to include the story’s images. Once the download is ready, save the file somewhere you can find it easily, such as your computer’s Downloads folder.
For Kakuyomu, WP Downloader handles whole stories only. It does not download individual chapters or lists. If the author adds more chapters, download the story again. WPD cannot add them to an EPUB you already downloaded.

Transfer the story to your reMarkable
reMarkable tablets support EPUB and PDF files up to 100 MB. You can transfer the downloaded story with the reMarkable desktop or mobile app, through a web browser, or over USB.
Use the reMarkable desktop or mobile app
Open the reMarkable app on your computer or phone and add the EPUB or PDF from WP Downloader. After it reaches your tablet, open the file from your reMarkable library.
Select the downloaded file itself, not the original Kakuyomu link.
Upload it from a web browser
Open reMarkable’s browser upload service and select the EPUB or PDF you downloaded. When the transfer is complete, find the story in your reMarkable library and open it.
Transfer it over USB
Connect the reMarkable tablet to your computer with a USB cable. In the tablet’s storage settings, turn on the USB web interface. Then open this address in a browser on the connected computer:

Should you choose EPUB or PDF?
Both formats work on reMarkable. EPUB is available from WP Downloader without a Discord sign-in. Choose PDF if you prefer that format and do not mind signing in to Discord for free. Whichever format you use, the file must be no larger than reMarkable’s 100 MB limit.
