How to send a Kakuyomu story to Kindle

To send a Kakuyomu story to your Kindle, first download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then upload the EPUB through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Amazon converts the file and adds the book to your Kindle library, where you can read it on a Kindle e-reader or in the Kindle app.

What you need

Start with the page for the Kakuyomu story. Its URL usually looks like this:

https://kakuyomu.jp/works/12341234123412341234

You do not need a Kakuyomu account. Stories on the site are in Japanese, and WP Downloader saves a whole story at a time. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from Kakuyomu.

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. EPUB is free for everyone. You can also create a PDF after signing in with a free Discord account. Send to Kindle accepts either format, but this guide uses EPUB.

Step 1: Download the Kakuyomu story as an EPUB

Open the Kakuyomu downloader and follow these steps:

  1. Copy the Kakuyomu story URL.
  2. Paste it into the downloader box.
  3. Wait for WP Downloader to detect Kakuyomu from the URL.
  4. Select EPUB as the output format.
  5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
  6. Download the EPUB.

The downloaded book contains the whole story. WP Downloader cannot make a separate file for one chapter or download a list of Kakuyomu stories.

When the author publishes more chapters, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded.

See how to download Kakuyomu stories for more help with this step.

Step 2: Send the EPUB to Kindle

You can send the file through the Send to Kindle website, the Send to Kindle app, or email.

Use Send to Kindle on the web

Open Amazon’s Send to Kindle web page, select the Kakuyomu EPUB, and submit it.

Amazon converts the EPUB and adds the story to your Kindle library. You can then open it on a Kindle e-reader or in the Kindle app.

Use the Send to Kindle app

Open the Send to Kindle app, select the downloaded EPUB, and send it to your Kindle library.

Once Amazon has converted the file, the story will appear in your library on your Kindle e-reader and in the Kindle app.

Send the EPUB by email

Attach the EPUB to an email and send it to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address.

You must send the email from an approved sender address. Amazon will not accept the file if the sender is not approved. After processing the attachment, Amazon adds the story to your Kindle library.

The Send to Kindle guide has more information about all three delivery methods.

Step 3: Open the story on your Kindle

Open your Kindle library on a Kindle e-reader or in the Kindle app. After Amazon finishes converting the EPUB, the Kakuyomu story will appear as a book. Select it to start reading.
