How to Read Kakuyomu Stories in the Kindle App

To read a Kakuyomu story in the Kindle app, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and send the file to your Kindle library. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install.

What you need

Have these ready:

  • The Kakuyomu story page
  • WP Downloader in your web browser
  • Access to your Amazon account
  • The Kindle app on your phone or tablet

A Kakuyomu story URL usually looks like this:

https://kakuyomu.jp/works/12341234123412341234

Kakuyomu stories are in Japanese. You do not need to sign in to Kakuyomu to download them with WP Downloader.

Step 1: Download the Kakuyomu story as an EPUB

Open the Kakuyomu Downloader and paste the story URL into the box. WP Downloader will detect that the link comes from kakuyomu.jp.

Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images. Start the download and save the finished file somewhere you can find it.

WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single Kakuyomu chapter or a list. If the author publishes more chapters, download the story again to get a new EPUB. WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded.

See how to download Kakuyomu stories for a separate guide to this step.

Step 2: Send the EPUB to your Kindle library

Amazon’s Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB files and converts them for Kindle. The story will then appear in your Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app.

You can send the file in three ways:

Use Send to Kindle on the web

Open Amazon’s Send to Kindle page in your browser and upload the EPUB.

Use the Send to Kindle app

Select the Kakuyomu EPUB in Amazon’s Send to Kindle app and submit it to your Kindle library.

Send the EPUB by email

Attach the EPUB to an email and send it to your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle address. You must send it from an approved email address.

For instructions on each method, see the Kakuyomu Send to Kindle guide or the general Send to Kindle guide.

Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files, so send the EPUB directly.

Step 3: Open the story in the Kindle app

After Amazon converts the EPUB, open the Kindle app on your phone or tablet. Find the story in your Kindle library and open it to start reading.

The story will also appear in the Kindle library on Kindle e-readers and other devices using the Kindle app.

Using PDF instead

WP Downloader can also create a PDF, which Send to Kindle accepts. PDF downloads require a free Discord sign-in, while EPUB downloads are free for everyone.

Send to Kindle accepts EPUB files. Amazon converts the file, and the story then appears in your Kindle library and Kindle app.

Can I use a MOBI file instead?
