How to Read Kakuyomu Stories in Apple Books

To read a Kakuyomu story in Apple Books, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file into Books. It will then be available in your Library for offline reading on an iPhone, iPad or Mac.

What you need

Copy the link to the Kakuyomu story you want to read. Story URLs look like this:

You do not need a Kakuyomu account. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install.

EPUB is the simplest format to use with Apple Books, and EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF with a free Discord sign-in. Apple Books opens both formats.

Step 1: Download the Kakuyomu story

Open the Kakuyomu downloader and paste the story URL into the box. WP Downloader will detect that the link is from Kakuyomu.

Choose EPUB as the output format. To keep the story’s images, turn on the option to include them before starting the download.

For Kakuyomu, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list. Save the EPUB to your device when it is ready.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to Apple Books on iPhone or iPad

Once the EPUB has downloaded, open it from Safari’s downloads or the Files app and share it to Books.

From Safari downloads

1. Open Safari’s downloads.
2. Tap the downloaded EPUB.
3. Tap the Share button.
4. Choose Books.

Apple Books will import the story and add it to your Library.

From the Files app

If you saved the EPUB in Files:

1. Open the Files app.
2. Find the downloaded EPUB.
3. Open the file, or press and hold it to see its options.
4. Tap Share.
5. Choose Books.

If Books does not appear right away, check the other available apps and actions.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to Apple Books on Mac

After downloading the EPUB and locating it on your Mac, import it in either of these ways:

• Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it.
• In Books, choose File, then Add to Library, and select the EPUB.

The imported story will appear in your Apple Books Library.

Downloading new Kakuyomu chapters later

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. If the author publishes more chapters, return to the Kakuyomu downloader and download the whole story again.

Import the new EPUB into Apple Books using the same steps.
