How to Read Inkitt Stories on a Barnes & Noble NOOK
To read an Inkitt story on a Barnes & Noble NOOK, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your NOOK over USB. Barnes & Noble calls copying your own files to a NOOK “sideloading.” WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.
What you need
Before you start, gather:
- The Inkitt story link
- Your Inkitt email address and password
- A computer
- Your NOOK and its USB cable
An Inkitt story link looks like this:
https://www.inkitt.com/stories/202117WP Downloader downloads the whole story, not individual chapters. It only downloads content that your Inkitt account can already read and does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.
Step 1: Download the story as an EPUB
Open the Inkitt downloader in your browser and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will detect that the link is from Inkitt.
When prompted, sign in with your Inkitt email address and password. WP Downloader uses these credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
Select EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.
PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in, but the steps below use EPUB. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Step 2: Connect your NOOK to the computer
Connect your NOOK GlowLight to the computer with its USB cable. The device may appear as a drive named “NOOK.”
On newer models, you may need to change the USB mode:
- Swipe down from the top of the NOOK screen.
- Tap “USB for charging.”
- Choose “Transfer files (MTP).”
Your computer should then recognize the NOOK for file transfers.
Step 3: Copy the EPUB to your NOOK
Find the EPUB downloaded from WP Downloader and drag it onto the NOOK drive or into the NOOK storage shown on your computer.
Wait until the file has finished copying. Eject the NOOK from the computer before unplugging the USB cable.
The sideloaded Inkitt story is now ready to open on your NOOK.
Downloading new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. When the Inkitt story is updated, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
Transfer the new EPUB to your NOOK by following the same USB steps.
