How to Read Ficbook Stories Offline on a Flight

Download your Ficbook story before the flight and save it on the device you plan to use. Once the EPUB or PDF is on your device, you can open it without an internet connection.

Download the Ficbook story

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. While you still have internet access, open the Ficbook downloader and copy the link to the story you want to read.

A Ficbook story URL looks like this:

Paste the link into WP Downloader. It will detect Ficbook and prepare the whole story for download. You do not need to sign in.

Choose a file format:

• EPUB is free for everyone and works with ebook-reading apps and Kindle.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in and can be opened in a PDF reader.
• You can also include the story’s images in the downloaded book.

WP Downloader downloads complete Ficbook stories. It does not download individual chapters or lists, and it does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Save the file somewhere easy to find on the device you are taking. If the story gains new chapters, download it again. WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB.

Prepare your reading device

Finish setting up your phone, tablet, Kindle, Kobo, or laptop while you still have an internet connection.

Phone or tablet

Download the story directly to your phone or tablet. Open an EPUB file in an ebook-reading app or a PDF file in a PDF reader.

Open the downloaded file once and check that the full story appears in the app. A download page left open in your browser will not give you offline access. The EPUB or PDF must be saved on the device.

Kindle e-reader or Kindle app

Choose EPUB if you want the story in your Kindle library. Amazon’s Send to Kindle accepts EPUB and PDF files. It converts EPUB files, then adds the book to your Kindle library for reading on Kindle e-readers and in the Kindle app.

You can send the file using:

• Your Kindle’s Send-to-Kindle email address
• The Send to Kindle app
• Send to Kindle on the web

Only approved sender email addresses can deliver files to your Kindle address. Send to Kindle no longer accepts MOBI files, but it does accept the EPUB files created by WP Downloader.

Kobo

Download the Ficbook story as an EPUB and put it on the Kobo you plan to carry. Open the book before departure to confirm that it is available on the device. See how to read Ficbook stories on Kobo for detailed instructions.

Laptop

Save the EPUB or PDF on your laptop and open it with an app that supports the format. Keep the file on the laptop instead of relying on an online folder or an open browser tab.

Test the book in airplane mode

Test the file before leaving so you have time to fix any problems.

1. Download or send the story.
2. Open it on the device you will use.
3. Turn on airplane mode.
4. Close and reopen the book.
5. Move to a later part of the story to check that the complete file is available.

If the book does not reopen, turn off airplane mode and download or transfer it again. Repeat the test afterward.

Checklist before boarding

• Download the Ficbook story as EPUB or PDF.
• Save the file on the device you are taking.
• Install the reading app you need.
• If you used Send to Kindle, wait for delivery to finish.
• Check that the book opens in airplane mode.
• Charge your device for the flight.
