How to Read FanficAuthors Stories on a Kobo

To read a FanficAuthors story on a Kobo, download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your e-reader. Kobo opens EPUB files natively, so no conversion is needed.

Download the FanficAuthors story as an EPUB

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It supports stories hosted on FanficAuthors subdomains, including links in this format:

To download a story:

1. Open the story on FanficAuthors and copy its URL.
2. Go to the FanficAuthors downloader.
3. Paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will detect the site automatically.
4. Choose EPUB as the output format.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the finished EPUB to your computer or phone.

You do not need a FanficAuthors account. WP Downloader downloads the complete story, not an individual chapter or a list of stories. The FanficAuthors download guide has a more general walkthrough.

EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and Kobo e-readers can open them directly. WP Downloader can also create a PDF with a free Discord sign-in, though a PDF is not needed for this guide.

Put the EPUB on your Kobo with a USB cable

A USB cable works without a cloud account.

1. Connect your Kobo e-reader to your computer with a USB cable.
2. Wait for the Kobo to appear as a drive on the computer.
3. Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
4. Copy the EPUB onto the Kobo drive.
5. Eject the Kobo safely from the computer.
6. Disconnect the cable.

Once the Kobo processes the file, the story will appear in your library. You can open it like any other book and read it offline.

To get chapters posted later, return to WP Downloader and download the story again. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have.

Add the story through Dropbox

Some Kobo models can add non-protected EPUB and PDF files through Dropbox. This requires Kobo software version 4.18 or later and works only on these models:

• Kobo Elipsa 2E
• Kobo Libra Colour

Link Dropbox from your Kobo e-reader, put the downloaded EPUB in the connected cloud folder, and sync the device. The story will appear on that Kobo.

Books added through Dropbox appear only on the device where you added them. If your Kobo does not support Dropbox, use a USB cable.

Add the story through Google Drive

Google Drive requires Kobo software version 4.37 or later and works on the same models:

• Kobo Elipsa 2E
• Kobo Libra Colour

On your Kobo, go to Home, then More, then My Google Drive, and select Get Started. The e-reader will display a code. Enter it on the Kobo website to link your account.

Put the FanficAuthors EPUB in the linked Google Drive folder, then sync your Kobo. The book will appear in the device’s library. Books added through Google Drive appear only on that Kobo.

Read the story offline

Once the EPUB is in your Kobo library, you can read the story without visiting FanficAuthors or using an internet connection.
