How to read a Chireads story on a PocketBook e-reader

WP Downloader can save a complete Chireads story as an EPUB. Transfer the file to your PocketBook through Send-to-PocketBook or over USB, and you can read the French story offline.

Download the Chireads story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install. You do not need a Chireads account.

Find the story on chireads.com. Its address should look like this:

https://chireads.com/category/translatedtales/story-name

Copy the full address, then:

1. Open the Chireads downloader.
2. Paste the story link into the box.
3. Wait while WP Downloader detects the site and collects the story.
4. Choose EPUB as the output format.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the file to your phone or computer.

EPUB is free for everyone and works on PocketBook e-readers. WP Downloader also creates PDF files, which require a free Discord sign-in. PocketBook supports PDF, but this guide uses EPUB.

For Chireads, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or reading lists, and it cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.

Option 1: Use Send-to-PocketBook

Send-to-PocketBook gives your e-reader its own email address. Email the EPUB to that address, then sync your PocketBook to receive it.

Set up your PocketBook address

On your PocketBook:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Accounts and synchronization.
3. Choose Send-to-PocketBook.
4. Sign in and follow the setup instructions.
5. Open the activation email.
6. Save your personal address ending in @pbsync.com.

Keep the address somewhere convenient if you plan to transfer more stories later.

Email and sync the EPUB

On the phone or computer where you saved the EPUB, create an email addressed to your @pbsync.com address and attach the file.

Send the email, then sync your PocketBook. Once the EPUB arrives, you can open it on the e-reader and read it offline.

If the file does not arrive, check whether your sending email address is on the Send-to-PocketBook approved list. The service may ask you to whitelist it before accepting attachments. Also check that you attached the EPUB instead of sending only the original Chireads link.

Option 2: Copy the story over USB

You can also transfer the file directly from a computer:

1. Connect the PocketBook to the computer with USB.
2. Open the PocketBook’s storage on the computer.
3. Copy the downloaded EPUB to the reader.
4. Complete the transfer and disconnect the device.

USB works well if the EPUB is already on your computer or you do not want to use email. You can transfer a PDF from WP Downloader the same way.

Keep your Chireads copy current

The downloaded file contains the chapters available when you created it. When new chapters appear on Chireads, return to the Chireads downloader, paste the same link, and download the story again.

This creates a new complete file, which you can transfer through Send-to-PocketBook or USB.

Can a PocketBook e-reader open Chireads stories?

Yes. PocketBook e-readers support EPUB and PDF, the two formats available from WP Downloader. Download the Chireads story, then transfer the file to the reader.

Do I need a Chireads account?

No. You do not need to sign in to Chireads to download a story with WP Downloader.

Can I download only one Chireads chapter?

No. WP Downloader downloads whole Chireads stories, not individual chapters or lists.

Why did my EPUB not arrive through Send-to-PocketBook?

Check that you used the correct @pbsync.com address, attached the EPUB, and synced the reader. You may also need to add your sending email address to the service’s approved list.

Will my downloaded EPUB receive new chapters automatically?

No. WP Downloader does not update an existing EPUB. Paste the story link into the downloader again to create a new file containing the chapters currently available.
