How to Read a Chaos (Sycophant Hex) Story on Kobo

To read a Chaos story on your Kobo, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and copy the file to your e-reader. Kobo opens EPUB files natively, so no conversion or extra reading app is needed.

Download the Chaos story as an EPUB

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It supports stories from chaos.sycophanthex.com and does not require you to sign in.

A Chaos story link looks like this:

To download a story:

1. Open the Chaos story downloader.
2. Copy the story’s main URL from Chaos.
3. Paste the URL into the downloader box.
4. Wait while WP Downloader detects the site and collects the story.
5. Choose EPUB as the output format.
6. Turn on the image option if you want to include the story’s images.
7. Download the EPUB to your phone or computer.

EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in, but EPUB works directly on Kobo e-readers.

For Chaos, WP Downloader downloads the complete story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories. If the author posts more chapters, download the story again to create an updated EPUB. WPD cannot add chapters to a file you downloaded earlier.

Put the EPUB on your Kobo with USB

A USB transfer works without relying on one of the Kobo models that supports cloud storage.

1. Connect your Kobo e-reader to your computer with USB.
2. Wait for the Kobo to appear as a drive.
3. Find the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
4. Copy the EPUB onto the Kobo drive.
5. Eject the Kobo safely from the computer.
6. Disconnect the cable.

The story will appear in your Kobo library. You can open it like any other book and read it without returning to the Chaos website.

Add the story through Dropbox

Dropbox is available on Kobo Forma, Kobo Sage, Kobo Elipsa, Kobo Elipsa 2E, and Kobo Libra Colour. Your e-reader must have software version 4.18 or later.

Link your Dropbox account from the Kobo, put the EPUB in the connected cloud folder, and sync the e-reader. The story will then appear on that Kobo.

Books added through Dropbox appear only on the device where you added them. If you have more than one Kobo, add the EPUB to each device separately.

Add the story through Google Drive

Google Drive is available on Kobo Forma, Kobo Sage, Kobo Elipsa, Kobo Elipsa 2E, and Kobo Libra Colour with software version 4.37 or later.

On the e-reader:

1. Go to Home.
2. Select More.
3. Open My Google Drive.
4. Select Get Started.
5. Enter the displayed code on the Kobo website to link your account.
6. Put the EPUB in the connected Google Drive folder.
7. Sync your Kobo.

The story will appear on the e-reader after the file syncs. As with Dropbox, a book added through Google Drive appears only on the device where you added it.

Use USB if your Kobo does not support these cloud options.

Keep an updated offline copy

Once the EPUB is in your Kobo library, you can read the Chaos story offline. Keep the downloaded file on your computer if you may want to copy it back to the Kobo later.

To get newly posted chapters, return to WP Downloader and download the complete story again. This creates a new EPUB. It does not update the older copy already on your Kobo.
