Download the story with WP Downloader
AlternateHistory.com stories are forum threads. WP Downloader collects the threadmarked chapters from a story thread and puts them into one book.
Copy the story’s thread URL. It will look similar to this:

- Open the AlternateHistory.com downloader.
- Paste the story thread URL into the box.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the story as an EPUB.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. You can also download a PDF after signing in with Discord for free.
WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It does not download individual chapters or lists from AlternateHistory.com. If the author posts more chapters, download the story again to get an updated file. WPD cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded.

Members-only stories
You do not need to sign in to download a public AlternateHistory.com story. If a story is available only to members, you can sign in with your AlternateHistory.com account and download it if that account already has access.

The steps are similar on a tablet:
- Download the story as an EPUB or PDF.
- Find the downloaded file.
- Open it in a compatible reading app.
- Save it to the app’s library if the app provides that option.
EPUB allows a compatible reading app to adjust the text to the screen, while PDF uses a fixed page layout. Choose the format that works with your reading app.
To save the images from the thread with the story, select the image option before downloading.
Read on an e-reader
Download the EPUB, then transfer or send it to your e-reader using the method supported by your device.
Kindle and Kobo use different workflows:
WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. It does not create MOBI or AZW3 files.
After adding the book to your e-reader, you can read its collected threadmarked chapters without opening AlternateHistory.com in a browser.
Read on a computer
Download the EPUB and open it in an application that supports EPUB files. If you download a PDF, open it in a PDF reader.
