How to Put Spuffy Realm Stories on Kindle with calibre and USB
To put a story from The Spuffy Realm on a Kindle over USB, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then add it to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and transfer it with calibre’s Send to device button. The book goes straight from your computer to your Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service.
What you need
You will need:
- The URL of a story on The Spuffy Realm
- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- calibre, a free e-book manager
- A USB cable for your Kindle
WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything to download the story. You also do not need to sign in for stories from The Spuffy Realm.
Step 1: Copy the story link
Open the story on spikeluver.com and copy its address from your browser. A story URL from The Spuffy Realm looks like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the Spuffy Realm downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site and prepares the whole story for download.
Choose EPUB to use the book with calibre. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.
WP Downloader can also create a PDF after a free Discord sign-in. It does not create MOBI or AZW3 files, so use calibre for that conversion.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the EPUB you downloaded and add it to your calibre library.
The story will appear with the other books in your library. You can edit its metadata or cover before converting it if you want to change how it appears on your Kindle.
You can also check the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer before transferring it. The viewer has a Read aloud feature.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in your calibre library and choose Convert books. Set the output format to AZW3, then start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can copy to the device over USB. calibre can also convert an EPUB to MOBI or PDF, but this guide uses AZW3.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files. Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB.
Step 5: Connect the Kindle and transfer the story
Connect your Kindle e-reader to the computer with its USB cable. After calibre recognizes it, select the converted story and choose Send to device.
calibre will copy the book to the Kindle. Once the transfer is complete, you can read the story offline on the e-reader.

Updating a story with new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. When the author posts more chapters, download the whole story again, add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it, and transfer the new copy to your Kindle.
