How to Add a Ficbook Story to Kindle with Calibre
You can transfer a Ficbook story to a Kindle without Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First, download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and copy it to your Kindle over USB.
Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux, so this method requires a computer. WP Downloader is a free web tool and does not need to be installed.
What you need
Before you start, you will need:
- The Ficbook story’s URL
- A computer with calibre installed
- Your Kindle e-reader
- A USB connection between the Kindle and computer
A Ficbook story link usually looks like this:

Step 1: Download the Ficbook story as an EPUB
Open the Ficbook downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site and prepares the complete story.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and can be added directly to calibre. To include the story’s images, select the image option before downloading.
WP Downloader also provides PDF after a free Discord sign-in. For this method, use EPUB so calibre can convert the story to a Kindle format.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select “Add books,” then choose the EPUB you downloaded.
Once the story appears in your calibre library, you can edit its metadata or cover. You can also check the book in calibre’s e-book viewer. The viewer has a “Read aloud” feature for listening on your computer.
Step 3: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the Ficbook story in your calibre library and open the conversion tool. Choose AZW3 as the output format and start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that can be transferred over USB. Calibre can also convert EPUB files to MOBI or PDF.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI, but Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB. This method uses calibre’s “Send to device” command and does not depend on Send to Kindle.
Step 4: Send the story to your Kindle
Connect your Kindle to the computer over USB. When it appears in calibre, select the converted story and choose “Send to device.”
Calibre will copy the AZW3 file to the Kindle. Once the transfer finishes, you can read the Ficbook story offline on the e-reader.

Getting new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already downloaded. When the Ficbook story is updated, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy of the complete story.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and send that version to your Kindle over USB.
