How to Put Chaos Stories on a Kindle with Calibre and USB
You can put a story from Chaos, also known as Sycophant Hex, on a Kindle without Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and copy it to your Kindle over USB.

Step 1: Copy the Chaos story link
Open the story on chaos.sycophanthex.com and copy its address from your browser. A Chaos story link looks like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the Chaos story downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site and prepares the whole story for download.
Choose EPUB for this guide. EPUB is free for everyone, and calibre can add the file to its library and convert it for a Kindle.
You can choose whether to include the story’s images. WP Downloader also offers PDF with a free Discord sign-in, though this guide uses EPUB for the AZW3 conversion.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. You will use calibre to create the AZW3 file.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre on your computer. It is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Select “Add books,” then choose the EPUB you downloaded. The story will appear in your calibre library.
You can edit the book’s metadata or cover before converting it, but this is optional. You can also open the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer to check it. The viewer has a “Read aloud” feature if you want to listen on your computer.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in your calibre library and choose “Convert books.” Set AZW3 as the output format, then start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format for books transferred over USB. Calibre can also convert EPUB files to formats such as MOBI and PDF.
Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB. Only Amazon’s Send to Kindle service stopped accepting MOBI. This guide uses a cable and calibre’s “Send to device” command, so the file does not go through that service.
Step 5: Connect the Kindle over USB
Connect your Kindle e-reader to your computer with a USB cable and keep calibre open.
After calibre recognizes the Kindle, select the Chaos story in your library and choose “Send to device.” Calibre will copy the converted book to the e-reader.
Wait for the transfer to finish before disconnecting the Kindle. You can then open the story on the Kindle and read it offline.
Getting updated chapters later
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded. If the Chaos story gets new chapters, download the whole story again from the Chaos downloader.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and copy the new version to your Kindle over USB.
