How to Listen to FictionAlley Stories With Text-to-Speech
To listen to a FictionAlley Archive story, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and open the file in a reader that supports text-to-speech. The steps vary slightly by device.
Download the FictionAlley story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. It supports stories from fictionalley-archive.org and fictionalley.org without requiring a sign-in.
- Find the FictionAlley Archive story you want to listen to.
- Copy its URL from your browser. It should look similar to this:
https://www.fictionalley-archive.org/authors/drt/DA.html - Open the FictionAlley downloader.
- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose EPUB and select whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the file to your device.
EPUB is free for everyone and works with the readers described below. WP Downloader also offers PDF after a free Discord sign-in, but these text-to-speech instructions use EPUB.
WP Downloader downloads the entire FictionAlley story. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list. It also cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB, so download the story again if it is updated.
The FictionAlley story download guide has more information about downloading the file.
Listen on an iPhone or iPad
Apple Books opens EPUB files, while the Speak Screen accessibility feature reads the text aloud.
Turn on Speak Screen first:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Select Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
Open the downloaded EPUB in Apple Books. With the story on screen, swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to start reading it aloud.
Speak Screen uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, so the narration will sound different depending on which voices you have installed.
Listen on Android
Android users can choose Select to Speak, Moon+ Reader, or @Voice Aloud Reader.
Use Select to Speak
Open Settings, go to Accessibility, and turn on Select to Speak. Open the story, start Select to Speak, and tap the items you want Android to read.
Use Moon+ Reader
Moon+ Reader opens EPUB files and has a built-in text-to-speech mode. Open the FictionAlley EPUB in Moon+ Reader and use its read-aloud option to start listening.
Use @Voice Aloud Reader
@Voice Aloud Reader can read EPUB files aloud. Open the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader, then start the app’s read-aloud function.
These options use the text-to-speech voices installed on your Android device. The installed voices determine how the narration sounds.
Listen on Windows, macOS, or Linux
Thorium Reader and calibre are free desktop readers that open EPUB files and can read them aloud.
Use Thorium Reader
Thorium Reader is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Open the FictionAlley EPUB, find the read-aloud control, and start listening.
Use calibre
Open or add the downloaded EPUB in calibre, launch it in the e-book viewer, and use the Read aloud feature.
Both readers use your computer’s text-to-speech voices. If you want the narration to sound different, check which voices are installed on your computer.
Choosing an option

On Android, Moon+ Reader and @Voice Aloud Reader can read EPUB files aloud. Select to Speak can read the items displayed on your screen.
