Download a Sufficient Velocity Story as EPUB or PDF
WP Downloader is a free web tool that turns the threadmarked chapters of a Sufficient Velocity story into one EPUB or PDF. Paste the forum thread URL into the download box to create a book without installing anything.
How to download an SV fic
- Open the Sufficient Velocity thread containing the story.
- Copy the complete URL from your browser’s address bar.
- Go to the WP Downloader home page.
- Paste the story link into the download box.
- Wait for WP Downloader to detect the site and collect the threadmarked chapters.
- Choose EPUB or PDF.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished file.
EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
For Sufficient Velocity and the other supported fiction archives, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or combine a list of threads into one book.
Which Sufficient Velocity URL should you use?
Use the URL of the story’s main thread on forums.sufficientvelocity.com. It should follow this pattern:
https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/some-story-name.123456/Copy the link from the story thread rather than from a general forum page. WP Downloader uses the threadmarks from that thread to assemble the book.
How threadmarks become a book
Sufficient Velocity stories are published as forum threads. Authors can mark story posts as chapters with threadmarks, and WP Downloader collects those marked chapters into one book.
The downloaded book contains the story’s available threadmarked chapters. Posts outside those threadmarks are not included as chapters.
Support for Sufficient Velocity and the other fiction archives on the supported sites list was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0.
Do you need to sign in?
Public Sufficient Velocity stories do not require an account. You can optionally sign in with your Sufficient Velocity account to reach members-only content that the account can already read.
WP Downloader does not bypass members-only restrictions, paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions. It uses your account credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
EPUB or PDF: which should you choose?
EPUB is free for everyone. Creating a PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
| Format | Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| EPUB | Free for everyone | Available without signing in |
| Free Discord sign-in | Requires Discord sign-in |
For either format, you can choose to include the story’s images.
Reading your SV fic on an e-reader or Kindle
You can open the downloaded EPUB in a compatible reading app or on an e-reader.
For Kindle, follow WP Downloader’s Send to Kindle guide. WP Downloader does not produce MOBI or AZW3 files, so use the downloaded EPUB with the process described in the guide.
Getting newly posted chapters
WP Downloader does not add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When the Sufficient Velocity thread gains more chapters, paste the story URL into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
The new file will contain the threadmarked chapters available when you download it.
For similar forums, see the guides for downloading a SpaceBattles story or a Questionable Questing story.
