Do stck.me Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?

You can download a stck.me story with WP Downloader and import it into Apple Books. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not clearly document whether EPUB files you import yourself count, but you can check on your device with a short reading test.

Download the stck.me story

Go to the stck.me downloader. WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything.

1. Copy the story’s stck.me URL. It will look like this:

2. Paste the link into WP Downloader.
3. Sign in with your stck.me account when prompted.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF. EPUB is free for everyone, while PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images, then download the file.

WP Downloader only retrieves chapters that your stck.me account can already read. Paid or follower-only chapters that are unavailable to your account remain locked and appear as notices in the downloaded book. The downloader does not buy access, follow authors, or unlock restricted chapters.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported books appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

1. Find the EPUB or PDF in the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Open the file or tap Share.
3. Choose Books from the sharing options.
4. Open Apple Books and find the story in your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the downloaded file.

The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.

How Reading Goals work

Apple Books Reading Goals track how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year. The daily goal is five minutes by default.

On an iPhone or iPad, you can change the daily goal from the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, you can change it from Home.

Apple’s documentation covers PDF tracking, but it does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time.

Make PDFs count toward your reading goal

PDFs only count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS, open Settings, then Apps, then Books, and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books, and look for the same option.

Once the setting is enabled, time spent reading the downloaded PDF in Apple Books can count toward your goal. If Include PDFs is off, that reading time will not count.

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

Since Apple does not document whether imported EPUBs count toward daily reading time, check what happens on your device:

1. Open Reading Now on your iPhone or iPad, or Home on your Mac.
2. Note today’s reading time.
3. Open the imported stck.me EPUB.
4. Read for a minute or two.
5. Return to Reading Now or Home and see whether today’s reading time increased.

If the total increases, Apple Books is counting the imported EPUB on your device. If it does not, the EPUB may not be adding to your daily reading time.

PDF has a documented tracking option through the Include PDFs setting. You will need to test an imported EPUB to find out whether it counts on your device.
