Do EFP Fanfic Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?
You can read an EFP Fanfic story in Apple Books by downloading it as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader. A PDF can count toward your Reading Goals when Include PDFs is enabled. Download an EFP Fanfic story with WP Downloader

Add the story to Apple Books

On iPhone or iPad
Once WP Downloader has created the file:
- Open the EPUB or PDF from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
Apple Books will open and add the story to your Library.
On Mac
Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the file.
The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Reading Goals track how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.
The daily goal is five minutes by default. To change it, use the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or Home in the Books app on a Mac.
Importing a story and tracking the time spent reading it are separate. A story appearing in your Library confirms that Apple Books accepted the file, but it does not confirm that the reading time will count toward your goal.
Check whether an imported EPUB counts
Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. You can test an EFP Fanfic EPUB on your device:
- Open Apple Books and note today’s reading time.
- Open the imported EFP Fanfic EPUB.
- Read for a minute or two.
- Return to Reading Goals and check whether today’s reading time increased.
If the total rises, Apple Books is counting that reading session toward your daily goal.
Make a PDF count toward your reading goal
Time spent reading a PDF counts only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current versions of iOS, open Settings, Apps, then Books and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books and find the same option.
Once the setting is enabled, open the downloaded PDF in Apple Books. Note today’s reading time, read for a minute or two, then check whether the total has increased.
