Do Chireads Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?
You can download a Chireads story as an EPUB and import it into Apple Books. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward your daily Reading Goal. To check, read the imported story for a minute or two and see whether today’s reading time increases.
Download a Chireads story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. Chireads stories are in French, and their links usually follow this pattern:

- Paste the Chireads story link into the box.
- Choose EPUB, which is free for everyone, or PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the file.
You do not need a Chireads account. WP Downloader downloads the whole story, not an individual chapter or a list. It cannot update an existing EPUB, so download the story again when you want a copy with newly available chapters.

Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Imported books appear in your Library.
On iPhone or iPad
After downloading the file:
- Open the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
- Find the downloaded EPUB or PDF.
- Open the Share menu.
- Choose Books.
The file will appear in your Apple Books Library.
On Mac
Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the downloaded file.
The imported story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Apple Books Reading Goals track:
- How many minutes you read each day
- How many books and audiobooks you finish each year
The default daily goal is five minutes. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or from Home on a Mac.
Adding a Chireads story to your Library does not add reading time by itself. Open the book and read it before checking the day’s total.
Check whether an imported EPUB counts
Apple does not document whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Test the file on your device:
- Note the reading time shown for today.
- Open the imported Chireads EPUB in Apple Books.
- Read for one or two minutes.
- Return to your Reading Goals.
- Check whether today’s reading time has increased.
If the total rises, Apple Books counted the time spent reading that file. If it stays the same, the imported EPUB may not be adding to the goal.
Make PDFs count toward your goal
PDFs count toward Apple Books Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current versions of iOS, open Settings, choose Apps, then Books, and turn on Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, choose Books, and enable the same option.
Once the setting is on, open the imported Chireads PDF, read for a minute or two, and check the daily total again.

They count only when Include PDFs is turned on in the Books settings. After enabling it, read the file briefly and check your daily total.
Do I need a Chireads account to download a story?
