How to Back Up The Spuffy Realm Stories

Authors and fiction archives can edit, unpublish or delete stories. WP Downloader lets you save a personal copy of a complete story from The Spuffy Realm as an EPUB or PDF. The file is a snapshot of the story when you downloaded it, which you can keep for offline reading.

Download a story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. You do not need a The Spuffy Realm account.

1. Open The Spuffy Realm downloader.
2. Copy the story URL from spikeluver.com. It should look like this:

3. Paste the URL into the box.
4. Choose EPUB or PDF. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the finished file to your device.

Choose a file format

EPUB works well for a personal fiction library. You can open it in an EPUB reader or manage it with calibre.

PDF is another option, though WP Downloader requires a free Discord sign-in to create one.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3 or TXT files. If you need one of those e-book formats, download the EPUB and convert it with calibre.

Keep a copy on your phone or tablet

Find the EPUB or PDF in your device’s downloads after saving the story. Moving it to a clearly named folder will make it easier to find later.

For a growing collection, you can:

• Create a folder for The Spuffy Realm.
• Name each file after its story.
• Keep the original EPUB if you convert it to another format.
• Save a second personal copy somewhere other than your usual reading device.

Open the EPUB in an e-book reader app or the PDF in a PDF reader. Because the file is stored on your device, you can read the saved copy offline.

Organize stories with calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS and Linux. It can organize your personal library so the files do not remain scattered through your downloads folder.

To add a story:

1. Open calibre.
2. Select “Add books.”
3. Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
4. Review or edit its metadata and cover.
5. Open it in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it.

calibre can convert an EPUB to AZW3, MOBI or PDF. It can also send books to an e-reader connected to your computer over USB.

The e-book viewer has a “Read aloud” feature for listening to the saved story on your computer.

Copy the story to an e-reader

Download a new copy when the story changes

A downloaded EPUB contains the version of the story that was available when you saved it. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB.

If the author posts a chapter or edits the story, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download another copy. You can then keep the earlier version or replace it in your personal library.
