How to Back Up FicWad Stories for Personal Reading
Authors and websites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. If you want to revisit a FicWad story, WP Downloader can save a personal EPUB copy of the story as it appears when you download it.
Download the FicWad story
WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. Open the FicWad downloader and copy the address of the story you want to save. A FicWad story link looks like this:
https://ficwad.com/story/1234Paste the link into WP Downloader. The tool will detect FicWad and download the complete story as an EPUB. You can also choose to include the story’s images.
EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can create a PDF after you sign in with Discord for free, but it does not produce MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
WP Downloader saves whole FicWad stories, not individual chapters or lists. You do not need an account for public stories. If a story is members-only, you can sign in with your FicWad account to reach content that account can already read. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested. WP Downloader cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

Treat the EPUB as a snapshot
A downloaded EPUB contains the story as it appeared at the time of the download. You will still have that copy if the author later edits the text, removes chapters, unpublishes the work, or deletes it.
The EPUB will not receive new chapters automatically, and WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an existing file. Download the story again whenever you want a newer copy. You can keep it alongside the earlier version or replace the old file.
Keep downloaded stories for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Read the backup on a phone or tablet
Open the downloaded EPUB in an app that supports EPUB books. If your usual reading app does not recognize the file, make sure you downloaded the EPUB rather than the optional PDF.
When the story gains more chapters, return to WP Downloader, paste the FicWad link again, and download a new EPUB.
Organize FicWad stories with calibre
Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can use it to manage a larger collection of downloaded stories.
To add a FicWad story:
- Open calibre on your computer.
- Select “Add books.”
- Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
- Edit the book’s metadata or cover if needed.
- Open the book in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it.
The viewer also has a “Read aloud” feature for listening on your computer.
Calibre can convert EPUB files to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. It can also send books to a connected e-reader over USB.
Put the story on an e-reader
Keep the original EPUB even if you convert it to another format. This leaves you with a copy that you can store or transfer later.

If you download a newer version of the story, add the new file to your device. The copy already on the device will not gain the latest chapters.
Manage your backup collection
A small collection can live in a personal folder. For more stories, you can add the original EPUB files to a calibre library and use its metadata and cover tools to organize them.
Download each story again when you want later chapters or edits. Keep every copy for your own reading rather than distributing it.
