How to Back Up Fiction.live Stories
Authors and websites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. You can keep a personal copy of a Fiction.live story by downloading it with WP Downloader and saving the EPUB somewhere you can find it. The file contains the whole story as it appeared when you downloaded it.
Download a Fiction.live story
WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install. It works with fiction.live and beta.fiction.live stories without requiring an account.

EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in. If you plan to organize or convert the book with calibre, start with the EPUB.
WP Downloader downloads the whole Fiction.live story. It does not download individual chapters or story lists.
Download again when the story changes
An EPUB contains the version of the story that was available when you downloaded it. The file will not change when the author edits the story, adds chapters, unpublishes it, or deletes it.
WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB. Paste the story link into the downloader again whenever you want a copy with newer chapters or edits.
You can keep both the earlier and newer files if you want a record of each version. Clear filenames will make them easier to tell apart. Keep downloaded stories for your own reading, and do not re-upload or share them.
Store the EPUB where you can find it
After downloading the EPUB, move it to a folder or personal storage location you will remember. A file left in a crowded downloads folder can be difficult to find later.
On a phone or tablet, locate the EPUB in your browser’s download folder and open it in an EPUB reader. On a computer, you can keep it in a folder for e-books or add it to calibre. Organizing files by story title can help you find the right version when you download a newer copy.
Keep the EPUB itself. A bookmark to the Fiction.live page will not preserve the story if the author or site later changes or deletes it.
Manage the book with calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. After installing it, use “Add books” to add the Fiction.live EPUB to your library.
You can then:
- Read the story in calibre’s e-book viewer
- Use the viewer’s “Read aloud” feature
- Edit the book’s metadata and cover
- Convert the EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF
- Send the book to a connected e-reader over USB
WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. If your device needs MOBI or AZW3, download the EPUB and convert your personal copy with calibre.
Copy the story to an e-reader
Once you have the EPUB, you can transfer it to your preferred reading device.

Keep the original EPUB after converting or transferring it. You can use that copy again if you later change reading apps or e-readers.

- Keep another personal copy in a separate storage location.
