How to Back Up Ficbook Stories
Authors and websites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. To keep a personal copy of a Ficbook story, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader. The file is a snapshot of the story at the time of the download and can be read offline.
Download a Ficbook story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. It supports complete stories from Ficbook, where story links look like this:

- Open the Ficbook downloader.
- Copy the Ficbook story URL from your browser.
- Paste the URL into the box.
- Choose EPUB, which is free for everyone. PDF is also available after a free Discord sign-in.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished file to your device.

The downloader only retrieves content available to read and does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions. Ficbook support was ported from FanFicFare, the Apache-2.0 open-source fanfiction downloader.
Treat the EPUB as a dated snapshot
An EPUB contains the version of the story available when you downloaded it. If the online story later changes or disappears, your copy remains as it was on that date.
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. When an author posts an update, paste the link into the downloader again and save a new copy.
You can keep both files if you want the earlier version as well as the latest chapters. Give them distinct names or store them separately to avoid replacing the older file by mistake.
Keep downloaded stories for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Keep the story on your phone or tablet
Save the EPUB somewhere you can find it, then open it in an app that supports EPUB whenever you want to read offline.
If you downloaded a PDF, open it in a compatible reading app. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in on WP Downloader, while EPUB does not.

Organize your copies with calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can keep several Ficbook downloads together in one library.
To add a story:
- Open calibre on your computer.
- Select Add books.
- Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
- Check the title, author, metadata, and cover.
- Open the story in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it.
You can edit metadata and covers in calibre to make your collection easier to browse. calibre can also convert an EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files directly.
calibre can send books over USB to an e-reader connected to your computer. Its e-book viewer also has a Read aloud feature.
Set up a backup routine
Download stories you want to keep before their pages disappear. Store the original EPUB somewhere you control, and add a copy to calibre if you use it for managing your library.
For an ongoing story, download it again when new chapters or edits appear. Each download creates a new snapshot, so you can keep the earlier version or replace it yourself.

Do I need a Ficbook account?
No. You do not need to sign in to Ficbook to download a story from ficbook.net with WP Downloader.
Can WP Downloader save one Ficbook chapter?
No. Ficbook support covers whole stories only, not individual chapters or lists.
