How to Back Up Chireads Stories

Authors and sites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. You can keep a personal copy of a Chireads story by downloading it as an EPUB with WP Downloader. The file is a snapshot that you can store and read offline.

Download the Chireads story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so there is nothing to install. You also do not need to sign in to Chireads. Find the story you want to save and copy its URL. It should look similar to this:

Then:

Open the Chireads downloader.
Paste the story URL into the box.
Choose whether to include the story’s images.
Start the download.
Save the completed EPUB somewhere you can find it again.

WP Downloader recognizes the Chireads link and downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list from this site.

EPUB downloads are free for everyone. WP Downloader can also create a PDF after you sign in with a free Discord account. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Remember that your download is a snapshot

The EPUB contains the version of the story that was available when you downloaded it. You will still have that copy if the author or site later edits, unpublishes, or deletes the online story.

The file does not receive new chapters automatically, and WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an existing EPUB. Download the whole story again when you want an updated copy. You can replace the older file or keep both versions.

To distinguish different versions, add the download date to each filename. For example:

Story Name - 2026-10-07.epub

You can then see which copy is newer without opening each file.

Keep the EPUB organized

Move the EPUB from your downloads folder to a folder for your personal Chireads library. You can organize your files by story name or download date.

If you do not want to lose the file, keep another personal copy in a separate storage location. Downloads kept only in a temporary folder may disappear if that folder is cleared.

Keep these copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.

Read the backup on your phone or tablet

To read the file, open it with an app that supports EPUB files. Find the downloaded story on your device, then open or share it with your preferred EPUB reader.

Because the EPUB is stored on your device, you can read it offline. If you download the story again later, check the filename so that you know whether you are opening the older or newer copy.

Manage the story with calibre on a computer

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can use it to keep your downloaded stories in a library.

To add your Chireads backup:

Open calibre.
Select “Add books.”
Choose the EPUB you downloaded.
Check the title, metadata, and cover.
Open it in calibre’s e-book viewer or transfer it to your device.

calibre can edit metadata and covers, convert files between formats, and send books to a connected e-reader over USB. For example, it can convert an EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.

The calibre e-book viewer also has a Read aloud feature for listening to the story.

Put the backup on an e-reader
