How to add Sam & Jack stories to calibre
To add a Sam & Jack story to calibre, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file using calibre’s Add books option. You can then organize the story, change its metadata or cover, convert it to another format, and transfer it to a connected e-reader.
Download the Sam & Jack story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install. Open the Sam & Jack downloader and copy the link to the story you want from samandjack.net.
A Sam & Jack story address looks like this:
https://samandjack.net/fanfics/viewstory.php?sid=1234Paste the link into WP Downloader. It will recognize the site and prepare the whole story for download. For Sam & Jack, WP Downloader handles whole stories only. It cannot download individual chapters or story lists.
Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and works with calibre. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
You do not need to sign in for public stories. If a story is available only to members, you can sign in with your samandjack.net account. WP Downloader can access only stories that your account is already allowed to read. It uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested and does not bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.
You can also download a PDF after signing in with Discord for free. EPUB is usually the most useful starting format for a calibre library because calibre can manage it and convert it to other e-book formats.

Add the EPUB to your calibre library
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. After the EPUB finishes downloading:
- Open calibre on your computer.
- Select Add books.
- Find the downloaded EPUB.
- Select the file to import it.
The story will appear in your calibre library. You can open it in calibre’s e-book viewer and read it on your computer without returning to the original story page.
If you download several stories, import each EPUB separately. Keeping them in one calibre library makes them easier to browse and manage.
Edit the story’s metadata and cover
calibre lets you edit a book’s metadata, including the details used to identify and organize it. You can also replace its cover.
Select the imported story and open calibre’s metadata editor. Review the details and change anything that does not fit how you organize your fanfiction library.
These changes apply only to the copy in calibre. They do not alter the story on samandjack.net.
Convert the EPUB to another format
WP Downloader creates EPUB files and, with a free Discord sign-in, PDF files. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
If your device needs a different format, calibre can convert the EPUB to:
- AZW3
- MOBI
Select the story in calibre, choose the conversion option, and pick the format you need. You may want to keep the original EPUB in your library for later conversions.

Send the story to an e-reader over USB
calibre can send books to an e-reader connected by USB. Connect the device to your computer and wait for calibre to recognize it. Then select the Sam & Jack story and use calibre’s option to send it to the device.
The format you need depends on the formats your e-reader accepts. If it supports EPUB, you may be able to transfer the original file. Otherwise, convert the story in calibre first.
Read or listen in calibre
You can read the downloaded story without a separate e-reader. Open the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it on your computer.
The viewer also has a Read aloud feature. Open the story and select this option when you want to listen instead.
Update a story when new chapters appear
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When a Sam & Jack story changes, use its link to download the whole story again.
Add the new EPUB to calibre and decide whether to keep the older copy. Metadata or cover changes made to the previous calibre entry do not affect the story on samandjack.net.

Can I add a Sam & Jack EPUB directly to calibre?
Yes. Download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, then import it using Add books in calibre.
Do I need a Sam & Jack account?
Public stories do not require an account. Signing in is optional and lets WP Downloader access members-only stories that your samandjack.net account can already read.
Can WP Downloader create an AZW3 or MOBI file?
No. WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. Download the EPUB and use calibre to convert it to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.
Can calibre add new chapters to my existing EPUB?
WP Downloader does not update existing EPUB files. When new chapters are available, download the whole story again and add the new file to calibre.
Can I download only one chapter?
No. For Sam & Jack, WP Downloader downloads whole stories only. It does not download individual chapters or story lists.
