Add MediaMiner Stories to Your Calibre Library
To add a MediaMiner story to calibre, download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, then import the file using calibre’s Add books option. Both tools are free. WP Downloader runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install, and you do not need a MediaMiner account.
What you need
Before you start, open the MediaMiner story page in your browser and install calibre on a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer.
A MediaMiner story address normally looks like this:

Download the story as an EPUB
Open the MediaMiner downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects that the link is from MediaMiner and prepares the story for download.
You can download an EPUB for free. PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in. EPUB is a useful choice for calibre because you can store it in your library, open it in the e-book viewer, convert it, or send it to a connected e-reader.
To keep any artwork from the story, select the option to include images before downloading. Save the EPUB somewhere easy to find, such as your downloads folder.

Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the EPUB created by WP Downloader, select it, and add it to your library.
The story will appear with your other books. Open it in calibre’s e-book viewer to check that it imported correctly or to read it on your computer. The viewer also has a Read aloud feature.
Edit the metadata and cover
calibre lets you edit a book’s metadata and cover. You can review the imported story and adjust its details to match the way you organize your collection.
Using consistent names and metadata can make a larger fanfiction library easier to browse, especially when it contains stories from several fiction archives. You can also edit the cover if you want it to appear differently in your library.
Convert the story to another format
WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
If your device or reading app needs another format, add the EPUB to calibre and use its conversion tools. calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.
You may want to keep the original EPUB in your library as a source file for reading and later conversions. You can then create the format required by each device.
Send the story to an e-reader
Connect your e-reader to the computer over USB. After calibre recognizes it, select the MediaMiner story and use the option to send the book to the device.

Get new chapters
WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you have already downloaded. When a MediaMiner story gets new chapters, return to the MediaMiner downloader, paste the link again, and download the complete story as a new EPUB.
Import the new file with Add books, then review its metadata and cover. If you converted or transferred the earlier copy, repeat those steps with the new version as needed.
