How to Use Calibre with Fiction.live Stories
To add a Fiction.live story to calibre, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and import the file into your calibre library. Both tools are free, and WP Downloader works in your browser without requiring an installation.
Download a Fiction.live story as an EPUB
Copy the address of the story you want to save. A Fiction.live story link looks like this:

Open the Fiction.live Downloader, paste the story link into the box, and wait for WP Downloader to detect the site. You do not need to sign in to Fiction.live.
Select EPUB as the output format. EPUB downloads are free for everyone and can be imported directly into calibre. You can also include the story’s images in the book.

You can also download a PDF after signing in with a free Discord account. EPUB is a convenient choice for calibre because you can edit its details, convert it to another format, or send it to an e-reader.
Add the EPUB to calibre
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. After the EPUB finishes downloading, open calibre on your computer.
To import the story:
- Select Add books in calibre.
- Find the EPUB you downloaded with WP Downloader.
- Select the file and add it to your library.
- Find the imported story in your calibre book list.
You can now read the story offline, organize it alongside your other books, or prepare it for another device.
If you downloaded the EPUB on your phone, first move it to the computer where you use calibre. You can then import it with Add books.
Edit the metadata and cover
calibre uses metadata to identify and organize books. Open its metadata editor to review or change the story’s title, author, and other details.
You can also edit the cover. This can help you tell apart stories with similar names or give your library a more consistent appearance.
You do not have to change anything. The EPUB can remain as downloaded, though editing its metadata may make a large fiction or fanfiction library easier to browse.
Read the story in calibre
calibre includes an e-book viewer, so you can read the imported EPUB on your computer without transferring it to another device.
The viewer has a Read aloud feature if you would rather listen to the story. The EPUB stays in the same calibre library as your other books.
Once the story is saved as an EPUB, you can open it without returning to Fiction.live. This is useful for offline reading or when you prefer a dedicated e-book viewer.
Convert the story to another format
WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
If you need another e-book format, use calibre to convert the imported EPUB. calibre can convert EPUB files to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.
You may want to keep the original EPUB in your library so you can read or convert it again later.

Transfer the book over USB
calibre can send books to an e-reader connected by USB. Connect the device to your computer and use calibre’s device controls to send the story.
If your device supports EPUB, you can transfer the original file. Otherwise, convert the story to a supported format in calibre before sending it.
Download new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add newly published chapters to an existing EPUB. To get the latest version of an ongoing Fiction.live story, return to the downloader, paste the same story link, and download the whole story again.
Add the new EPUB to calibre and review its metadata to distinguish it from an older copy.

Do I need a Fiction.live account?
No. You do not need to sign in to download Fiction.live stories with WP Downloader.
Can WP Downloader download one Fiction.live chapter?

Will my calibre copy receive new chapters automatically?
