How to Add Chireads Stories to Calibre
Download a Chireads story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, then import it into calibre with Add books. From there, you can edit its details and cover, convert it, read it in calibre, or send it to an e-reader over USB.
Download the Chireads story as an EPUB
WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. Chireads stories are in French, and downloading them does not require a Chireads account.
Find the story on chireads.com. Its URL will look like this:
https://chireads.com/category/translatedtales/story-nameCopy the URL and open the Chireads downloader. Paste the link into the box, and WP Downloader will detect the site.
Select EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and can be imported directly into calibre. You can also include the story’s images.

Add the EPUB to your calibre library
calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. After downloading the EPUB:
- Open calibre and select Add books.
- Find the downloaded Chireads EPUB.
- Select the file to add it to your library.
- Open the new book entry and check that it appears correctly.
You can leave the story as an EPUB, read it with calibre’s e-book viewer, or prepare it for another device.
Edit the story details and cover
calibre lets you edit a book’s metadata and cover. Select the story in your library, open the metadata editor, and review its title, author, and cover. Change any details you want.
For a library with several downloaded stories, use a consistent naming system. You can keep each story’s original title while adding enough information to tell similar entries apart.
Convert the story for another app or device
WP Downloader creates EPUB files for free and PDF files with a free Discord sign-in. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.
If your reading app or device needs a different format, import the EPUB into calibre and use its conversion feature. calibre can convert EPUB files to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, and PDF.
You may want to keep the original EPUB alongside any converted copies so that you can use it for later conversions.

Read the story in calibre
Select the Chireads story in your calibre library and open it in the built-in e-book viewer. The viewer also has a Read aloud feature, so you can listen to the story from calibre.
Send the story to a connected e-reader
Connect your e-reader to the computer over USB. After calibre recognizes the device, select the Chireads story and send it to the connected reader.
Convert the EPUB in calibre first if you need another format. When the transfer is complete, check the device’s library for the story.
Download new chapters
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. When a Chireads story receives new chapters, paste its link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy.
Add the new EPUB to calibre, then review its details so that you can distinguish it from the older copy. You can keep or remove the previous version according to how you organize your library.
