Track Pretender Centre Reading on Goodreads or The StoryGraph

Most Missing Pieces stories will not have entries on Goodreads or The StoryGraph. You can download the story with WP Downloader, check whether either service lists it, or keep your own reading list in calibre.

Download a Missing Pieces story

WP Downloader is a free web tool that downloads stories from Missing Pieces at Pretender Centre. You do not need to install anything.

1. Open the story on pretendercentre.com.
2. Copy its full URL. It should look like this:

https://www.pretendercentre.com/missingpieces/viewstory.php?sid=1234

3. Open the Pretender Centre downloader.
4. Paste the story link into the box.
5. Choose EPUB, or sign in with a free Discord account to choose PDF.
6. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
7. Download the file to your device.

You do not need a Pretender Centre account. WP Downloader downloads the whole story, not a single chapter or a list. If the author adds chapters later, paste the link into WP Downloader again and download a new copy. The tool cannot update an EPUB you already downloaded.

Track the story on Goodreads

Most fanfiction and web serials are absent from the Goodreads database. Search by title and author before adding an entry so you do not create a duplicate.

If the story is missing, eligible Goodreads account holders can add it at goodreads.com/book/new. Your account must have a verified email and cannot be brand new. You need at least the story title and author, which you can copy from the original Missing Pieces page.

After the entry is created, you can track it with your other books. Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate records.

Check The StoryGraph

The story may also be missing from The StoryGraph. Search for its title and author first.

The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. Check its current help pages for guidance rather than following instructions for published books.

If you cannot add the story, you can keep the downloaded EPUB in a personal calibre library instead.

Keep a reading list in calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It lets you keep downloaded fanfiction together on your own computer, even when Goodreads or The StoryGraph does not list it.

After downloading the EPUB:

1. Open calibre on your computer.
2. Select Add books.
3. Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
4. Edit its metadata or cover if needed.
5. Read it in calibre’s e-book viewer or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.

The calibre viewer has a Read aloud feature. calibre can also convert EPUB files to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.

WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files, so use calibre if you need one of its supported conversion formats.

Put the story on your reading device

Once you have the EPUB, add it to calibre or transfer it with the method supported by your device.

Give the original download a name you will recognize. If you download the story again after new chapters appear, this will help you tell the files apart before updating your calibre library or transferring the newer copy.
