Track Nine Lives Archive Reading on Goodreads or StoryGraph

To track a Nine Lives Archive story, download it with WP Downloader and look for a matching entry on Goodreads or The StoryGraph. Most fanfiction is missing from book databases, so you may need to add the work to Goodreads or keep a private reading list in calibre.

Download the Nine Lives Archive story

Start by saving the complete story as an EPUB:

1. Open the Nine Lives Archive downloader.
2. Copy the story’s Nine Lives Archive URL. It will look similar to this:

http://ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=1234

3. Paste the URL into WP Downloader.
4. Choose EPUB, which is free for everyone. PDF is available with a free Discord sign-in.
5. Turn on the image option if you want to include the story’s images.
6. Download the finished file to your device.

WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. For Nine Lives Archive, it downloads the whole story rather than a single chapter or a list.

You can sign in with your Nine Lives Archive account if you need access to a members-only story. WP Downloader only retrieves content your account can already read and does not bypass access restrictions.

Track the story on Goodreads

Search Goodreads for the story’s title and author first. Most fanfiction and web serials are not in its database, but the story may already have an entry.

If you cannot find it, Goodreads accounts with a verified email may add a book manually at goodreads.com/book/new. Brand-new accounts cannot use this option.

To add a basic entry:

1. Confirm the story’s title and author.
2. Visit goodreads.com/book/new in your browser.
3. Enter the title and author, the minimum required details.
4. Submit the entry and use it to track your reading.

Only enter details you can verify from the story. Do not guess at missing publication information or present a fanfiction story as an officially published edition.

Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate entries. If you find another listing for the same story, avoid creating more copies and leave corrections or merging to the librarians.

Check The StoryGraph

Search The StoryGraph for the title and author. The story may be in its database, although fanfiction is often missing there too.

The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. Check its current help pages instead of relying on unofficial instructions.

If you cannot find the story or suitable instructions for adding it, you can keep a personal record in calibre and read the EPUB on your preferred device.

Keep a private library in calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can serve as a private reading library when Goodreads or The StoryGraph does not have the story.

After installing calibre:

1. Select “Add books” and choose the EPUB from WP Downloader.
2. Edit its metadata or cover if needed.
3. Read it in calibre’s e-book viewer, which has a Read aloud feature.
4. Connect an e-reader by USB to send the book to that device.

calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader provides EPUB and PDF files, but it does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files.

For help with a particular device, see send Nine Lives Archive stories to Kindle or read Nine Lives Archive stories on Kobo.

Update your record when chapters are added

If the author adds chapters, download the complete story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you already have.

Replace the older copy in your personal library, then review any information you recorded on Goodreads, The StoryGraph, or calibre. You can also save the story URL in your notes so you can return to its Nine Lives Archive page.
