How to Track GoodNovel Stories on Goodreads, StoryGraph, or calibre

GoodNovel stories are often missing from Goodreads and The StoryGraph. You can download the free chapters with WP Downloader, search for an existing record, and use calibre when neither service has the story.

Download the GoodNovel story

WP Downloader is a free web tool, with nothing to install. Open the GoodNovel downloader and paste the story link into the box. A GoodNovel story URL looks like this:

WP Downloader recognizes the site and downloads the whole story instead of a single chapter or list. You do not need to sign in to GoodNovel.

EPUB is free for everyone. PDF is also available with a free Discord sign-in, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.

The download includes only free chapters. Paid chapters are left out because WP Downloader does not buy or unlock them. When more free chapters become available, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you already saved.

Look for the story on Goodreads

Most fanfiction and web serials are not in the Goodreads database, but someone may already have added the GoodNovel story. Search for its title and author first.

If it is missing, eligible Goodreads members can add it at goodreads.com/book/new. Your account must have a verified email and cannot be brand new. The title and author are the minimum required information.

Enter the title and author as they appear on GoodNovel. Goodreads librarians handle later edits and merge duplicate records. If your account is not eligible yet, keep the EPUB and story details together until you find an existing record or can add one.

Check The StoryGraph

Search The StoryGraph for the title and author. Its database may not contain the story.

The StoryGraph does not publish clear official instructions for adding works that are not books. If the story is missing, check its help pages instead of relying on unofficial submission instructions.

If neither service has a suitable record, you can keep the EPUB in your own calibre library.

Keep a GoodNovel reading list in calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It lets you store the story and edit its details without relying on a public book database.

After downloading the EPUB:

1. Open calibre and select “Add books.”
2. Choose the GoodNovel EPUB.
3. Edit the metadata to match the story’s title and author.
4. Add or change the cover if needed.
5. Open the story in calibre’s e-book viewer to read it.

The viewer also has a “Read aloud” feature.

calibre can convert the EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader does not produce AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files itself. You can also use calibre to send books to an e-reader connected by USB.

For an ongoing story, keep the latest download as a separate file until you have checked that it contains the chapters you expected. You can then update its metadata and organize the replacement in calibre.

A simple tracking routine

1. Download the available free chapters as an EPUB.
2. Search Goodreads and The StoryGraph by title and author.
3. Use an existing record if you find one.
4. If your account is eligible, add the missing story to Goodreads with at least its title and author.
5. If neither service has a suitable record, add the EPUB to calibre and manage its metadata there.
6. Download the story again when new free chapters appear.

This keeps an offline copy of the available chapters together with a record of the story.
