How to read a SquidgeWorld Archive story on a PocketBook e-reader
You can read a SquidgeWorld Archive story on a PocketBook e-reader by downloading the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, then transferring the file through Send-to-PocketBook or over USB. PocketBook devices support EPUB and PDF, so you do not need to convert the file.
Download a SquidgeWorld story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. Open the SquidgeWorld Downloader to get started.
Copy the story URL from SquidgeWorld Archive. It should look like this:
https://squidgeworld.org/works/123456 Paste the link into WP Downloader. The tool will detect the site, after which you can choose your settings and create the book.
WP Downloader provides two formats:
- EPUB is free for everyone and works on PocketBook e-readers.
- PDF also works on PocketBook, but it requires a free Discord sign-in.
EPUB is the simpler choice for most PocketBook readers. To keep artwork or other illustrations from the story, select the option to include images.
For SquidgeWorld Archive, WP Downloader saves the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a story list. If the author publishes more chapters later, download the story again to create an updated EPUB.
Public stories usually do not require a SquidgeWorld account. You can sign in with an account from that site to reach members-only stories the account can already read. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the requested story. It does not bypass account restrictions or other access controls.
SquidgeWorld Archive support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.
See the SquidgeWorld story download guide for more help with downloading the file.
Send the EPUB with Send-to-PocketBook
Send-to-PocketBook gives your e-reader its own email address. After setting it up, you can email the EPUB to that address and sync the reader.
Set up your PocketBook address
On your PocketBook e-reader:
- Open Settings.
- Select Accounts and synchronization.
- Open Send-to-PocketBook.
- Sign in and follow the setup instructions.
- Check your email for the activation message.
After activation, you will receive a personal email address ending in @pbsync.com.
Email and sync the story
Create an email from your usual account and attach the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader. Send it to your @pbsync.com address.
Sync your PocketBook to receive the file. When the transfer is complete, open the story on the reader and read it offline.
If the book does not arrive, check whether your sending address is on the service’s approved list. Send-to-PocketBook may ask you to whitelist that address before accepting the attachment.
Copy the story to PocketBook over USB
You can transfer the EPUB directly with a USB cable if you prefer not to set up Send-to-PocketBook or the emailed file does not arrive.
- Connect the PocketBook e-reader to your computer with a USB cable.
- Open the device’s storage on the computer.
- Copy the EPUB or PDF from WP Downloader to the device.
- Safely disconnect the PocketBook.
- Find the story on the reader and open it.
The file stays on the device, so you can read it without returning to SquidgeWorld Archive or maintaining an internet connection.
